Senator Rand Paul single-handedly holds
up $40bn US aid for Ukraine

The top Democrat and Republican in the US Senate joined forces in a rare moment of unity on Thursday in an attempt to pass $40bn in aid for Ukraine, only to be stymied by a single Republican lawmaker: the Kentucky libertarian Rand Paul. Faced with the prospect of an extended delay for the package that passed the House of Representatives on Tuesday, the Senate majority leader, Chuck Schumer, and his Republican counterpart, Mitch McConnell, sought to move forward on the aid package only to be blocked by Paul, a fiscal hawk who objects to the amount of spending proposed.(Snip)“This is the second spending bill for Ukraine in two months.

Along with the obscene amount of money we have given Ukraine, I notice several European countries joining NATO. Could this 'war' be a way of gathering even more countries under one umbrella? Not sure I like this.

Good on him. I have zero problems killing Russians. Happy to pay for bombs and missiles. Little pay back for what they did to me. Plus the Russians are clearly the bad guys here. But this bill is stupid. Lots of pork.

I like Senator Paul more and more, especially his pursuit of the truth regarding Fauci and his funding gain of function research that's been going on for years at the Wuhan lab. A Republican member of the House said that no members of Congress, except Pelosi, had more than a few hours to try to read this Bill, and therefore no member of Congress except Pelosi knew what's in it. $40 billion proposed to be gifted away in this manner might be considered by some to be fiscally irresponsible. But maybe not. What's $40 billion these days? Also, what's with the unspent $ billions authorized in the initial COVID stimulus Bill? Maybe some of those funds might be well spent to help improve the scarcity of baby formula?

Left and the Media totally Poutraged that Musk spends $40Billion buying Twitter, a 16yo mega company, one that he will own Completely. Now Poutraged that someone "might" simply question Taxpayers spending that much a MONTH on Ukraine. Seems I read somewhere that $40billion is more than 1/2 of what the Federal Govt spends a YEAR here on Education. Twice as much as all childhood nutrition/lunch/breakfast dinners. 4 times as much as Headstart/Kindergarten/preschool.

Good on Rand Paul. I hate these massive bills that no one reads before they sign on to them. How is that being responsible to the American taxpayer? The political class is desperate to keep their gravy train moving and as I understand it, it passes right through Ukraine. In fact, that may be the most lucrative stop it makes on it’s foreign journey to gather up the spoils not of war but of corruption. Frankly, anything this Congress does is suspect to me now. They are nothing but a bunch of power mad greedy corruptocrats with very few exceptions. The American people must demand transparency when these massive bills are passed because our political class has lost our trust. We know they are wallowing in pay for play and other schemes that make them wealthy while the people who pay their salaries cannot find baby formula for their babies. We are dealing with a criminal class of arrogant fools who have abused their positions for years at the expense of the American people. To think they are busy destroying our country through various radical left wings policies while continuing to spend us into bankruptcy is criminal. We cannot sustain the country with these idiots irresponsibly throwing around money with abandon like we actually have it to spend. How is it even reasonable or financially responsible to borrow money to give it away to a foreign country? This is madness. McConnell came out to tell the great unwashed masses that Ukraine was the most important issue in the world today in his quest to get this massive bill passed. He must have been asleep these past. O this if he believe that, Biden has destroyed us and McConnell believe that it is more important to give Ukraine 40 Billion dollars than address all the important issues facing the American taxpayer. He and the rest of his cronies are too busy giving money we don’t have to Ukraine. The flaccid old fool has his priorities skewed again. Unlike Mitch, it’s America first that the American taxpayer is demanding. Enough of political class warfare against the taxpayer, let’s get real. We know they are so anxious to fund this bill not because of any love for the Ukrainian people, but for the boatload of cash that will be funneled back into their own corrupt pockets.

Free money without oversights the American way just waste it then ask for more. Senator Paul is the only voice in this watching out for the Americans. I'm not interested in Ukraine or what Russia did in the region I'm sure Ukraine's neighbors are helping, are they? I just didn't like the talk Mitch McConnell was using while shouldering up to Schumer it sounded too wasteful to me when our border needs to be fixed until it is I don't care about Ukraine's woes.

All these giveaways have a common justification. Since our Congressional Beagle Boys figured out that they can collect 'handling fees' from all disbursements...there is NO amount of spending that will not be approved. This applies equally to domestic spending.
