North Korea raised coronavirus prevention measures Thursday as leader Kim Jong Un acknowledged for the first time that COVID-19 was spreading in the totalitarian nation. An unspecified number of Pyongyang residents tested positive for the omicron variant, leading to a nationwide lockdown, according to the country’s state news agency. Until Thursday, North Korea had said it was virus-free since the start of the pandemic more than two years ago, a claim that was dismissed as propaganda by most outside experts. The North shares an 880-mile border with China, the virus’ country of origin.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul slammed social media platforms in the wake of the livestreamed mass shooting at a Buffalo supermarket on Saturday.
Payton Gendron, 18, allegedly was recording with a camera affixed to his helmet and broadcasting to Twitch when he killed 10 people in a racially-motivated attack at a Tops Friendly Market, police and reports said.
Hochul said social media outlets need to crack down on content concerning white supremacy and other dangerous ideologies and found it inexcusable that Gendron’s graphic stream wasn’t taken down “within a second.”

Residents of rural Conklin, New York were stunned Saturday by the news the gunman accused in the Buffalo supermarket attack was a teenager who lived in their town.
Payton Gendron, 18, allegedly drove his parents’ car over 200 miles from Conklin to Buffalo Saturday to massacre 10 people in a racially motivated mass shooting he live streamed on Twitch.
Conklin is a sleepy community of about 5,000 people on the Susquehanna River just north of the Pennsylvania border in Broome County and 10 miles south of Binghamton. The population is 95.7 percent white, according to Census estimates.

ARLINGTON, Virginia — Pro-abortion protesters outside George Mason University’s Antonin Scalia Law School Thursday afternoon called for “mandatory vasectomies” and claimed that “the Bible itself tells you how to perform abortions.”
About 30 abortion advocates gathered outside the front entrance to the law school in Arlington, Virginia, to protest an address set to be given by Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito at the school.
The address was being given by Alito remotely from the court building while fallout from a draft opinion overturing infamous pro-abortion case Roe v. Wade — written by Alito — was leaked, leading leftists to gather outside justices homes to protest.
Ten people have been taken into custody after 17 were shot in Milwaukee Friday evening near the Bucks-Celtics basketball game, police said Saturday.
Nine firearms were recovered from the scene, after dozens were seen fleeing, Milwaukee police said.
"Everybody started running," witness Brittany Bergstrom, who was at a nearby restaurant, told FOX 6 in Milwaukee. "There was a stampede, people running over the shrubs, hats shoes on the ground, drinks spilled everywhere."
She said her boyfriend pulled her behind a brick wall, "and if he wouldn't have this outcome would be a lot different. And that's all I know and everybody took off running and I just kept running."

The Houston Police Department released bodycam video of a deadly officer-involved shooting where a suspect was accused of fatally running over a construction worker and stabbing a Montrose apartment manager. Two officers discharged their duty weapons and struck the suspect more than once. The suspect dropped the knife, but got up and attempted to flee the scene on foot.
Houston police said it all started when a man, identified as 27-year-old Ronnie Dwayne Cesear, Jr. approached a 67-year-old construction worker, Carrl Hayes, who was working in the area overnight.
Cesear stabbed Hayes with a butcher knife, then jumped into the victim’s truck and ran him over, police said.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Multiple people were struck in a mass shooting at the Tops Markets on Jefferson Avenue and the shooter is in custody, according to Buffalo Police.
At least 10 people are dead, law enforcement officials told The Associated Press.
Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz first tweeted confirming the shooting: “I have been advised of an active multiple shooting event at the Tops Markets on Jefferson Street in Buffalo. In one of the most “wait, what?” moments of 2022, a top Democrat leader in the House has declared that the United States is currently at war. A future ex-lawyer named Michael Sussmann is going to trial next week for his role in feeding the FBI bogus Russian collusion stories.
Those stories are scurrilous and vulgar lies which distracted the nation and the Trump administration for years and for which someone should be held accountable. But Sussmann was not the person who manufactured those lies. He was just the bag guy who passed them on to the FBI.
And so those lies are not what Sussmann has been charged with. He’s been charged with a more pedestrian lie – the lie of telling the FBI he was not working for a client when in fact he was.
