A public meeting in Kenosha, Wis., descended into chaos Monday night as one resident accused the parks commission of quietly trying to approve a proposal to memorialize one of the two men killed by Kyle Rittenhouse in 2020.
The commission ultimately tabled the proposal after multiple residents showed opposing the placement of a memorial tree and plaque commemorating Anthony Huber at Anderson Park.
Huber was captured on video chasing Rittenhouse and attempting to hit him with a skateboard before Rittenhouse fatally shot him in the chest during protests on Aug. 25, 2020.
The proposal was requested earlier this month by Huber’s girlfriend Hannah Gittings

The three individuals who were shot were repeat criminals who were there to commit arson and vandalism, because the city officials had abdicated their authority and allowed the city devolve into chaos. The lack of public order created a vacuum which was filled by unsavory elements.
It grows tiresome hearing ''Rittenhouse should not have been there''. If city/state authorities had done their jobs, he would not have been there. The rioters should not have been there or been allowed to burn, loot, and vandalize the city. The incompetent Mayor and Governor caused this.

The point to offer back is those thugs shouldn’t have been there either. If they were in prison where they belonged, they would probably be alive today. One was a child molester that told the parole board that he would reoffend. They let him out anyway. His death is on their hands.

All of them were criminal trash, violent rioters burning the city, and at that moment trying to murder a young man. And these damned "leaders" want to memorialize that sort of criminals?
I say, "Good riddance".

What is wrong with these people in leftist land? They are dangerous loons. If they tried something similar in my small southern town, the tree and plaque would be gone in an hour and most of the city leadership run out of town. We are indeed turning into two countries and I don't see it ending well.

The fact they only "tabled" it and then only because they feared the public backlash (not because they believed it was wrong) troubles me!

A read of the article discloses that this memorial was proposed by Huber’s girlfriend.

FTA:
The proposal was requested earlier this month by Huber’s girlfriend Hannah Gittings, according to the commission’s agenda, and it flew under the public’s radar until Kevin Mathewson, a former Kenosha alderman and current investigative journalist, published an article about the issue on his website.
Mathewson attended Monday’s meeting and engaged in a testy exchange with the commission, whom he accused of breaking the law, prompting Alderman Eric Haugaard to repeatedly slam his gavel.
Mathewson believed that if he hadn’t shown up the wimpy aldermen would have quietly approved this insane “memorial” for a would-be killer.
Mathewson heads a group called Kenosha Guard, an armed group to do just what Kyle did to protect their city - protect from rioting and looting.
Photos of Huber and girlfriend. Not impressive.

Matthewson told Fox News that he believes the commission would have quietly approved the proposal if the public had not spoken up.
“They have all spoken publicly against Kyle Rittenhouse,” Mathewson claimed of the members of the commission. “They think that he shouldn’t have been out there, and it was terrible that he shot these poor innocent people who are just protesting police brutality.”

Didn't mean to hit the button. What is in #13 is all from the article, and should have had quotation marks around it.
My point was that lionizing criminals in any public fashion is not going to get us where we want to be as a free society. The Kenosha commission of moral defectives was ready to approve, sotto voce, a memorial to someone who went to Kenosha to cause trouble and died while swinging a skateboard at Rittenhouse's head. Not exactly Iwo Jima. He went there to cause trouble for the townspeople of Kenosha and got more than he bargained for: one round of .223 Remington right through the ticker. He won't make that mistake again. Let's hope his bereaved girlfriend won't continue her campaign on Anthony's behalf. He went the way some violent criminals go. It was, as a deer hunter would say, an ethical kill.

If the rioters were carrying baseball bats, or hammers, or a pieces of two by fours, or any of many items that could be used as a weapon, those items would have instantly been recognized as a deadly weapons. But a skateboard could be claimed to be a transportation device and thus there was a legitimate reason to be carrying it down the street. So they carried skateboards and their intention was to use them as weapons. I bet Huber would have fallen immediately if he had stepped on that skateboard.

They want to plant a tree and put up a plaque? Make it to commemorate the businesses looted, burned and destroyed by the rioters that were never able to recover. They should be memorialized, mot crazy rioters who were destroying things and trying to kill others.

Huber was a would be killer who managed to get himself offed while trying to beat Kyle Rittenhouse to death with a skateboard. Tough stuff, Hannah. There should be no memorials anywhere to criminal street scum. They should be buried and forgotten. Anthony Huber asked for it and he got it.
