Utah garbage man secretly filmed teaching
woman a 'lesson' about American flag

Original Article

A garbage man in Utah was filmed last week taking an American flag out of the trash and folding it neatly when he thought nobody was looking. Don "Munch" Gardner, a Marine Corps veteran, was secretly taped honoring the flag by Huntingdon, Utah resident Brooke Cowley, according to Fox 13. "I was a complete idiot! I was cleaning our porch while the kids did an Easter egg hunt. I threw away our flag and pole because it had broken and ripped," Cowley wrote on Facebook. "Then I witnessed our ‘garbage man’ stop get out of the truck, unhook the flag and take the time to fold it!"

Comments:

Well, at least she learned a lesson and was contrite. I suspect that many would be uncaring, sad to say.

Old and tattered flags can be dropped off at any local VFW organization. Call the local Boy Scouts and they’ll pick the flags up to be disposed of properly.

Thank you, poster, for sharing this story. Mr. Gardner quietly did the right thing, while Ms. Crowley acknowledged her own failure to properly dispose of the flag. If she had been seeking attention, I'm guessing she would have found another way to get it, rather than shaming herself. She sounds like a lovely person, and her contrition seems genuine and entirely appropriate to me.

As a Boy Scout leader many years ago, we would canvas an area and collect old and damaged flags, take them to the locale VFW, and have a proper ceremony for the disposal of those flags. With a number veterans always present, it was not only the proper way of disposal, but often times a moving tribute to those present and those gone.

My husband is a former Marine and I was a Girl Scout back when that was a patriotic religious organization. We both know proper flag etiquette and we fly ours from the front porch and bring it inside every day when the sun goes down. We have neighbors who leave theirs up 24/7 no matter the time or weather, but at least they are flying it and not burning it.

In the 90's I was on a run in a sleet storm at night passing a local grade school and there stood old glory tattered and torn blowing in the wind with no light. But there was Abraham Lincoln on an easel in a classroom facing the window with the lights on. I struck the colors tucked them in my sweatshirt and brought her home. About one year ago I finally performed the formal ceremony, just whistled "to the colors" so as not to frighten the neighbors.

leftist ideals clash with reality

The illogical leftist mind contradicts its own ideas without a care for their destructive nature. On the one hand, the greenies want everyone to eat a plant-based diet because meat and milk from animals are evil. On the other hand, they want to eliminate commercial fertilizers and return completely to "organic" agriculture. See any problems with these two disparate goals? Fertilizer shortages are making news these days, and not just here in the USA. Of course, the shortage is being blamed on our catch-all, ubiquitous "supply chain" issues and Putin, especially since many of these products are made of components from overseas.

He’s described as right-wing, though that label is applied to any person the Left doesn’t like. Bill Maher is now described as right-wing in some circles which is beyond laughable. Maher is as liberal as they come. Like Maher, Peterson is an expert at shredding liberal narratives around gender identity and pronoun use. He’s not for political correctness. He’s for freedom of speech. He speaks at length about the crisis in masculinity—all of which makes feminists seethe with rage. He uses facts

With all the thousands of studies bombarding the medical community, it’s helpful to set our microscope aside and look at the bigger picture. It’s virtually certain that the virus was engineered in Wuhan with financial and technical assistance directed by that highly competent bureaucrat, Anthony Fauci. But that doesn’t tell us what we should expect as the virus moves through society. For that, we must look at the science. And I don’t mean “I am science” Fauci. I mean real scientific data, something with which Fauci has little acquaintance. Perhaps we should start with that great scientist, Oprah Winfrey, who recently opined that ending the mask mandate on airliners was “premature.”

Over the weekend, I saw this article about public schools and parents. Maybe it's really parents vs. schools. This is from the Associated Press: Families opting for homeschooling, private schools and other options sent enrollment down sharply in the first full school year of the pandemic, and generally it has been slow to recover. In Houston, the largest district in Texas, enrollment tumbled by more than 22,000 to around 183,000 in fall 2021 and only about half of those students have returned. The district was shielded from making cuts in the first two years of the pandemic

Since last year, the poll finds Kobach’s support in the race has grown by more than 10 percentage points. Then, Kobach was still dominating his opponents with a nearly 30-point lead. One of the left's useful narratives is that Native Americans lived in idyllic, pastoral harmony, only to have this paradise brutally destroyed by the invading Europeans and their Christian God. There's some truth (some Native American tribes were peaceful and some Europeans brutal), but that's not important for the left. Angelic indigenous people and evil Whites are the core story for them. That's why it's intriguing to learn about the fate of 150 people whose skeletons were found in a cave in Mexico. The skeletons were actually found a decade ago. Now, though, Guatemala's Institute of Anthropology and History has determined when and how these people died.

Many ideas considered radical a decade ago now enjoy mainstream support in the environmentalist movement. Demands to "decarbonize" electricity production are proceeding apace despite the limitations of generating electricity reliably and affordably from renewable sources alone. The technology to store energy simply hasn't kept pace with our ability to generate it, leaving renewable sources like wind and solar handicapped by their inherent intermittency. Consequently, renewables provide only a fraction of Nebraska's energy needs and find economic viability only through a regime of heavy government subsidy. Despite this technological deficiency, clean energy advocates still insist we decommission "dirty" sources sooner rather than later.

President Joe Biden's pick to represent the United States on a council that promotes free trade in Asia has a long history of cozying up to the Chinese Communist Party. He's also a top Biden donor. Biden tapped Dominic Ng, the chairman of East West Bank, to represent the United States on the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation’s Business Advisory Council, a group of business leaders that advises governments on issues in the Asia-Pacific region. Ng, who has led the East West Bank since 1992, contributed $100,000 to the Biden Victory Fund and $35,500 to the Democratic National Committee in October 2020, according to campaign finance disclosures.

I held my silence following the death on Saturday of Orrin Hatch, the former long-serving Republican senator from Utah. One doesn’t rush to speak ill of the dead. And besides, Senator Hatch had some redeeming qualities. He was unfailingly gentlemanly and on many issues he was squarely in the same camp as I. But he was also far from a conservative warrior; he was, in fact, part of the uniparty establishment, and pulled his punches on many key issues. For a scathing look at Hatch’s record, check out Michelle Malkin’s essay at Vdare.com:

Liberal, Democratic Party-aligned strategists, pollsters, and think tank experts spent six months coming up with the “ultra MAGA” label that President Joe Biden has begun to deploy against Republicans ahead of a difficult midterm election. The Washington Post reported Friday: Biden’s attempt to appropriate the “MAGA” brand as a political attack was hardly accidental. It arose from a six-month research project to find the best way to target Republicans, helmed by Biden adviser Anita Dunn and by the Center for American Progress Action Fund, a liberal group.
