Cancel culture? Well, first, Beto probably will get 20, maybe 30 votes out of Comal County. Full of Germans and hard working Hispanics. Heck, Comal County was Republican when Republican wasn't cool in Texas. (Full disclosure: I live about six miles south of the Comal County line). Second. Beto wanted to have his political rally at a public high school That school district (Comal ISD, which comprises most of Comal County except for the city of New Braunfels) does not allow political groups (Republican or Democrat) to use its facilities. Beto thought that he could just walk into town and do what he wanted. I'm sure that if he wanted to, he could find other venues for his rally in Comal County. He just doesn't want to pay their price.

New York Just Cost Democrats Their Big
Redistricting Advantage

Don’t count your chickens before they hatch — and don’t count your congressional districts before all the redistricting lawsuits are finished. On Wednesday, the New York Court of Appeals ruled that the congressional map New York Democrats enacted back in February was a partisan gerrymander that violated the state constitution and tossed it to the curb. The decision was a huge blow to Democrats, who until recently looked like they had gained enough seats nationally in redistricting to almost eliminate the Republican bias in the House of Representatives. But with the invalidation of New York’s map, as well as Florida’s recent passage of a congressional map that heavily favors the GOP

It’s a good question. I had the same one when I heard someone on television mention she was taking it. We were told she tested positive for COVID-19 but she is asymptomatic. If she has no symptoms, why is she taking Pfizer’s wonder drug? The simple answer is because she’s the vice-president. If she was Kamala Harris, the office assistant from down the street, she very likely wouldn’t have access to the drug, Paxlovid. The Covid-19 antiviral pill, according to the Politico piece, is reserved for patients “at high risk for progression to severe COVID-19,” according to the Food and Drug Administration’s emergency use authorization standards.” Is Kamala a high risk patient?

The revelation that a close business associate of Hunter Biden’s was granted access to the Obama-Biden White House on nearly 20 occasions is the just latest shoe to drop in a Pulitzer Prize-worthy story of power and corruption that’s becoming known simply as "Biden, Inc." This new disclosure is part of the shady operation that the mainstream media ignored for years to cover for Joe Biden -- is now picking up steam at the worst possible time for the president. It’s a textbook case of the Washington swamp at its worst and how the politically

Message to woke corporate America: Butt

Woke corporate America is finally getting some push-back. It’s about time. Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) has punished the Walt Disney Company for interfering in his state’s politics, signing a bill that strips the Mouse House of special tax status in Florida. The issue? Disney defaming DeSantis’s much maligned “Don’t Say Gay” bill, which, ironically, says nothing of the kind. The consequences are severe: Disney will no longer have jurisdiction over the development and management of an area encompassing tens of thousands of acres that has been under their total control since 1968. The carve out of, especially, the Reedy Creek Improvement District, meant

Some of my fellow Never Trumpers have been keen lately to push back on the claim that Trump is losing his grip on the GOP. For good reason. If he has lost some of his grip, he ain’t lost much:(Snip for video) When even the candidates you *haven’t* endorsed try to position themselves as the true heir to your political legacy, that’s a pretty tight grip you’ve got. The 25th Amendment Won’t Fix Our Biden Problem 5 replies

Despite widespread concern about his cognitive health, President Biden won’t be removed from office pursuant to the 25th Amendment. It would require an unlikely display of integrity from his Vice President and Cabinet, plus an implausible level of bipartisanship in Congress. Moreover, the claims of politicians and pundits aside, the involuntary ouster of an unfit president isn’t the purpose of the amendment. Its principal function is to guarantee that the executive branch of the government is at all times led by an official who is conscious and able to communicate. Thus, the first 3 of its 4 sections focus on

Harry Reid spent decades perfecting his brand of machine politics that powered Democratic control across Nevada. Now, four months after the death of Reid, the venerated political titan who represented Nevada in Congress for 34 years, Democrats here find themselves relying on his legacy once again. In an already volatile environment nationally for their party, in which they’re contending with issues like rising inflation, soaring gas prices and dismal White House approval, they’re tasked with locking down Catherine Cortez Masto’s Senate seat, and the outcome could dictate control of the Senate. They’re also defending Steve Sisolak’s governorship, which had taken Democrats 20 years to claim from Republicans.

America’s supposed racial divide has a class element that we are all supposed to ignore. But for the past two years, I couldn’t ignore the number of media outlets and supposed intellectuals who have discarded the legitimate concerns of the middle class because they, the elite, supposedly know what’s best for us and our children. The anti-racism movement has come to Main Street, and no one asked for its arrival. The average American isn’t very ideological because that is a luxury most Americans can’t afford when they’re trying to make ends meet and support their families, unlike the economic and intellectual elite.

How bad will the 2022 election be for the Democrats? In all likelihood, quite bad. Biden’s approval rating is bad, his rating is worse on the most important issue, the economy, and it is truly terrible on high profile, contentious issues like crime and immigration. Democrats are behind on the generic Congressional ballot, despite the tendency of this measure to overestimate Democratic strength. The results of special and off-cycle elections indicate a very pro-GOP electoral environment. And midterm elections are typically bad for the incumbent party anyway. So there are not a lot of good signs here. In fact, hardly any.

President Joe Biden is banning traditional incandescent lightbulbs in a push to be more energy efficient, but critics claim the switch to LED alternatives will prove costly for poorer Americans. The Department of Energy (DOE) adopted two new rules Tuesday that strengthen energy efficiency standards for lightbulbs and will effectively phase out the sale of traditional bulbs by next year. However, consumer analysts allege that not only are LED bulbs more expensive, costing nearly $4 each as opposed to $1 for an incandescent bulb, but are often not stocked in stores in lower-income communities. Around 30 percent of the two billion bulbs sold in the US every year are incandescent.
