Former Washington Husky and Reign goalkeeper Hope Solo was taken into police custody Thursday in North Carolina and charged with impaired driving while intoxicated, resisting arrest and misdemeanor child abuse. A Winston-Salem police spokeswoman told The Seattle Times that Solo was arrested at a Walmart parking lot and taken to the Forsyth County jail (snip) Solo, 40, is a two-time Olympic gold medalist who helped the United States women’s soccer team win the World Cup in 2015. The Richland native starred with the Washington Huskies (1999-2002) before rising to acclaim during a 13-year professional career

Her husband was in the car with her so why wasn't he driving if she's impaired unless he was drinking also? If so, it's not a good example to set for you children. I hope they get it together for their children's sake.

Thank you, #4. She also was benched after publicly questioning coach Greg Ryan’s decision to start Briana Scurry against Brazil during the 2007 World Cup, comments many saw as a slight against Scurry. I remember it well. Hope had 3 shut-outs in 4 tournament games but was then benched because - according to the coach - Scurry (the one with the large Black Panther tattoo) had always played well against Brazil. We lost, 4-0. Memo to Hope: Stop with the alcohol. I did, and life's never been better.

More than 100 Seattle Public Schools students walked out of class Monday morning to protest the district’s decision to end the requirement that students and staff wear masks. Many of those students rallied at district headquarters, the John Stanford Center, to ask Superintendent Brent Jones to reinstate the mask mandate districtwide. Mask requirements for Seattle and most other districts in the state ended a week ago.

Amazon.com is temporarily removing workers from a downtown Seattle office so employees don’t have to travel to an area that’s seen a spate of shootings, carjackings and other violent crimes. (snip) The office at 300 Pine St. in the old Macy’s building is about three blocks from Pike Place Market, a popular Seattle tourist destination. The Senate voted to confirm Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court on Thursday. Jackson was nominated by President Biden after Justice Stephen Breyer announced in February that he will retire by summer. Jackson will join Justices Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor in the Court’s liberal minority. Biden fulfilled a campaign pledge by nominating the first black woman to the Court. Jackson will be the third African American justice confirmed to the Court, after Thurgood Marshall and Clarence Thomas.

A renewable energy company was given five-year probation and ordered to pay more than $8 million in fines after the deaths of 150 bald and golden eagles on their wind turbines.
