“Socialism, this is the path to save the planet, I don’t have the least doubt. Capitalism is the road to hell," Venezuela's Hugo Chavez told the 2009 Copenhagen climate conference. Rhetoric like that won the socialist dictator the admiration of socialists from Barack Obama to Noam Chomsky. But the dirty little secret of the socialist revolution in Venezuela was that it was a front for a massive drug smuggling operation. Chavez and his successor, Nicolas Maduro, gutted Venezuela's rich oil resources and turned the country into a socialist drug cartel. “Venezuela and its revolution will endure under the proven leadership of vice president Maduro,” Sean Penn promised.

As long as the problem is mainly with Marxists and inner city thugs, I approve. Both are the inevitable conclusion of the war on drugs.

They're famous for consolidating power by killing off the middle classes (both foreign and domestic). Now their greed will liquidate them all.... I love this plan! I'm pleased 'to follow the science' of such an outcome! heh. ....in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.... Romans 8:28

“If the current administration is in office much longer, canned goods, a generator, water and ammunition would be your best investments.”— Edward D. Jones, 4/20/21 There is no denying it. There is a madness, a type of cancer that has taken hold of our world. Yes, this planet has never been at peace… mankind is what it is, we go our own way, but we are seeing a craziness at a level never seen before. Governments everywhere, including here in the USA, have abandoned God, good government, law and order, common sense, and traditional Judeo-Christian values. They have jumped in with both feet into the dark and shadow

If Putin had followed the advice offered in the Belmont Club just before the Ukraine War, Russia might still be a first-rank power. On Feb 21, 2022, I argued that he had no chance of conquering Ukraine and would be crazy to try. “Fears over Vladimir Putin’s threatened invasion of Ukraine continue to grow despite the fact that the effort would burst both Russia’s military and economy, not to mention ruining its foreign relations. Swallowing a poison pawn makes so little sense that UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson says Russia’s Putin may be ‘irrational,’ unable to act in his own best interests.” Invading only to fail was so absurd

Back in 1967 when Disney World was just a gleam in Mickey’s eye and states around the country were vying for Walt Disney’s approval to build his second theme park, the Florida legislature passed the Reedy Creek Improvement Act, which gave the Walt Disney Company a special carve-out, making it a self-governing enclave. The Act gave Disney “the ability, the power to build a nuclear power plant, an airport manufacturer, distill and distribute alcoholic beverages and lots of other things,” said Dr. Richard Foglesong, author of Married to the Mouse in an interview with a Florida TV station last year.

In a victory for female athletes, champion male cyclist Zach Bridges, who now prefers to be called Emily, won’t be able to race against real women. [Tweet] Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), the world governing body for international competitive cycling, made the call that Bridges won’t be allowed to compete against real women. The decision was made after female cyclists threatened to boycott the race en masse. “It’s not transphobic to want fair sport—it’s anti-female to not,” said Sharron Davies, a former Olympic swimmer for England Davies believes the threat of a boycott helped UCI make its decision. “It would not have been fair to ask Laura Kenny

Florida's got yet another spring breaker in town: Scot, a massive great white shark, has been recorded swimming off the Gulf Coast. Scot, an adult male, measures just over 12-feet long and weighs 1,600 pounds, according to OCEARCH, the non-profit marine group that spotted the big fish Thursday. Scot is the 74th great white shark tagged and released by the group in the Northwest Atlantic Ocean, OCEARCH said. They fit each animal with an electronic tracker that pings whenever it breaks the ocean surface. The tracker's records show Scot is a dedicated traveler. He was first tagged in September of 2021 in Nova Scotia --

"In the name of Allah, the merciful and compassionate," Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian Authority leader, said, "we would like to welcome Secretary Clinton." "Blinken," someone corrected him. "Sorry, Blinken," the 86-year-old Islamic terrorist leader said. Secretary of State Blinken had to travel thousands of miles away to find a leader even more unpopular and out of it than the one he had left behind at the White House. That was last year. This year, Abbas got Blinken’s name right and not much else. After 17 years (and just one election), Abbas has seen a lot of secretaries of state come and go to get their pictures taken with him
Was Joe Biden ever competent? 30 replies

Joe Biden was never smart. When I interned in Congress for two summers many years ago, other congressional members openly referred to him as one of the dumbest men on Capitol Hill. Staffers and interns, including ones who worked for Democrats, made fun of him. Old age and dementia have done this dull man no favors. That was apparent over the weekend when Biden, stupidly even for him, went off script and called for regime change in Russia. It also was apparent a few months ago, when Biden may have precipitated the war by, according to President Zelensky's account of their phone call, encouraging Ukraine to apply

How often do we need new world orders? As often as oil changes? Speaking on Monday at Business Roundtable’s CEO Quarterly Meeting in Washington, Old Joe Biden said portentously: “And now is a time when things are shifting. We’re going to — there’s going to be a new world order out there, and we’ve got to lead it. And we’ve got to unite the rest of the free world in doing it.” It has been just thirty years since George H. W. Bush promised a new world order, and apparently, that one is already gotten stale. So Old Joe is going to bring us a still newer one,

President Biden had a meltdown at his press conference on Monday. He continuously denied the reality of his numerous recent misstatements that the White House had to embarrassingly ‘walk back,’ and lashed out after repeated grilling. But one of the most humiliating things to come out of his press conference is a glimpse at the handheld notecard his White House handlers gave him to handle “tough” Putin Q&A talking points. It looks like the White House had had enough of Biden’s continuous gaffes and gave him a ‘cheat sheet’ so that he wouldn’t ‘screw it up.’ Spoiler alert: He screwed it up. The notecard shows that he was given the answer

It looked world-historical, but it was just Old Joe having another senior moment: During a Saturday speech in Warsaw, Joe Biden declared, “For God’s sake, this man cannot remain in power,” referring, of course, to Vladimir Putin. As PJM’s Matt Margolis pointed out, “Bill Kristol actually hailed the remark as a historic call to action on par with Ronald Reagan.” Kristol wasn’t alone: The establishment media erupted in a chorus of hosannas for Old Joe, the newly anointed global statesman, until, that is, several key European leaders made it known that they weren’t at all happy with what Joe said and were glad that his handlers walked it back.

Back in 1967, the Reedy Creek Improvement District agreement was created to lure Disney to Florida. The agreement allows the district governmental powers to facilitate recreational projects and tourism. Florida's legislature felt that it would benefit the state if recreational organizations had the power to act as their own government in areas like property development, water control, public utilities, law enforcement, and fire protection. The mouse eagerly took the cheese, and today most of the land is owned by Walt Disney World. It's been a pretty sweet deal (snip) Now Florida legislators are threatening to pull those special privileges if Disney continues to strike at HB1557

Detroit—New vehicles sold in the U.S. will have to average at least 40 miles per gallon of gasoline in 2026, up from about 28 mpg, under new federal rules unveiled Friday that undo a rollback of standards enacted under President Donald Trump. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said its new fuel economy requirements are the strongest to date and the maximum the industry can achieve over the time period. They will reduce gasoline consumption by more than 220 billion gallons over the life of vehicles, compared with the Trump standards. They're expected to decrease carbon dioxide emissions—but not as much as some environmentalists want—and raise new vehicle prices

While it is impossible to quantify a negative, it is reasonable to assume that preventing significant numbers of people traveling in large groups and coming from countries where
