Reviving Rusher: How Post-COVID-19 Provides

Recently, while reading a new biography about the life and contributions to conservatism of my dear friend, Stan Evans, by Steven Hayward, I was enlightened as to the extent of the leg work that both he and William Rusher did to explore the possibility of running a new third-party team of Ronald Reagan and George Wallace in the 1976 presidential election. Hayward’s well-researched and perfectly toned book, “M. Stanton Evans: Conservative Wit and Apostle of Freedom,” discussed a March 1975 meeting in Alabama at which Evans and Rusher conducted “sort of an interview” with Gov. Wallace as due diligence toward this improbable ticket.

Republicans are as guilty of sustaining this "free shtuff" world we currently live in as Democrats. Whether 2008 and the Housing market collapse, to 2018/21 appropriation of TRILLIONS in COVIDS stimulus and other "aid" while locking down the economy with various mandates have REPUBLICAN fingerprints on them, too. Politicians learned in the '92 elections that even a slight economic downturn will be turned into "the worst since the Great Depression" economic conditions by the other side. And voters respond to this nonsense. The Fed is more involved in "managing" our economy through money supply than ever. Congress floods the economy with printing press money at every opportunity. The President signs those appropriations. In the case of the COVIDS stimulus, look at the signature on the bill making it law. In 1975, the parties were still dealing with public financing, which has become a web of cash that ensures the perpetual survival of both parties. Since then they have done a number of things to eliminate the possibility of any challenges to their duopoly. Third parties these days are will-o'-the-wisp, generally financed privately (Perot, for example) that are quickly absorbed by the political class (Tea Party) or discredited. They inevitably collapse relatively broke. The way to reform is what FPDT is attempting, and the MAGA/America First crowd must do: Take control of the party and particularly it's finances. Money is the lifeblood of all politics.

As Vladimir Putin floats terrifying hints of Russia’s willingness to use nuclear weapons against countries that assist in Ukraine’s defense against Moscow’s brutal invasion, the United States is saddled with a president teetering on the brink of senility, and a woman one heartbeat away from the presidency who is as dependably incompetent as she is undependable in prepping herself on national and international issues. Polling makes clear that the public is fully aware of, and disconcerted by, the alarming shortcomings of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris alike; but at the same time, there is little if any appreciation

At long last, the mainstream media are paying some attention to the obvious corruption of President Joe Biden’s family and its many business partners, which include the Chinese government and Russian oligarchs. These things have been known for years. Why are the Big Media only now looking into them? And why, not really knowing anything at all about what was going on, do Twitter and Facebook still censor those who report on the Bidens’ questionable overseas business activities? Finally, both the New York Times and Washington Post have been forced to admit that Hunter Biden’s lost laptop is real, CORRECTION*

Americans have been warned by their superiors to not question the outcome of the 2020 election, because it will further the Donald Trump Big Lie that the presidency was stolen from him. Yet we continue to see shreds of evidence that say the Big Lie is in fact the claim that the 2020 election wasn’t corrupted. Merely mentioning doubts about the legitimacy of the presidential election that put a doddering, grafting, plagiarizing, on-the-wrong-side-of-everything Joe Biden in the White House is enough to be sent to Twitter jail, get flagged by Facebook, and attacked in the mainstream media. Shame is heaped on anyone who dares question the Democrat-media-Never Trump narrative

If one listens closely enough, one hears the feint but steady hum of envy buzzing through American society. The envy is directed toward Ukraine, a country being pummeled by Russian tanks and missiles. A country where children, the elderly and the sick are being targeted with bombs. And yet, it is also a country bravely standing up to one of the largest and best-equipped militaries on earth. This courage, this love of home and country, this willingness to sacrifice life and fortune – this is the subject of American envy. The progressive left in America has levied a constant barrage of warnings

The first line in President Joe Biden’s budget statement, released Monday, is “Budgets are statements of values, and the budget I am releasing today sends a clear message.” Biden’s right that his $5.8 trillion budget sends a clear message. The message is that he will say and do anything, no matter how disconnected from reality it is. The rest of his statement is itself full of lies and half-truths. For example, Biden brags that he’s cut the deficit in half in his first year, making it “the largest one-year reduction in the deficit in U.S. history.” That’s technically true but

One of President Joe Biden’s signature promises during the 2020 campaign was that he would “unify the country.” Now, a little more than a year into the presidency, most Americans don’t feel he has lived up to his promise. In fact, the latest I&I/TIPP Poll shows they feel America is divided, not united, under Biden. “I pledge to be a president who seeks not to divide, but to unify; who doesn’t see red states and blue states, only sees the United States,” Biden told followers after declaring victory on Nov. 8, 2020. That speech was seized on by many as a sign

Day after day we read of cases in which a speaker was shut down on a college campus, a group was denied a forum or chased from the public square, or free inquiry was snuffed out because there might be words uttered or written that could “hurt” someone. Will the administrators and professors who refuse to punish this behavior, and even sometimes support it, ever understand that the invented grievances aren’t about offense but about having power over others? Just this week, The College Fix reported that a University of Virginia student wrote in The Cavalier Daily that it was dangerous for former Vice President Mike Pence

We’ve now listened to three days of a scheduled full week of testimony by Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson. And to be honest, we’ve heard enough. Anyone who truly cares about the Constitution and the rule of law should reject Jackson. Jackson has a winning smile and pleasant demeanor. Those are nice personal traits, but not ones that necessarily elevate you to the Supreme Court. Still, she’s also a Harvard Law grad, clerked for Justice Steven Breyer, worked as a public defender, served on the U.S. District Court

A pair of principles that drive the political left – never letting a crisis go to waste, and using prior acts of government-imposed restraints to gradually but methodically steal liberty – is taking the U.S. down a path that, if traveled too far, goes in only one direction. We trust that Western nation voters will reverse the trend before it’s too late. But first they have to recognize how the country is being manipulated. If government authorities can shut down an economy and rob Americans of their freedom with lockdowns and mask and vaccine mandates over a virus, then they can, and will, do the same for a crisis,

Plenty of commentators have wondered how it is that Vice President Kamala Harris has the ability to use so many words yet say so little. Some speculate that she refuses to read her staff’s briefing materials and so rambles. Others that she just loves the sound of her own nasally voice. Others say that she just isn’t too bright. We believe there’s another possible explanation. Being from California, Harris no doubt was raised on a steady diet of Hollywood fare. Is it too much of a stretch to believe that she watched “Plan 9 From Outer Space“ as a child

By all evidence, Ketanji Brown Jackson’s nomination to the Supreme Court will be a shoo-in. Not because she’s supremely qualified, but because her nomination — as the press reminds us in every headline — is “historic.” Yes, there are and have been black justices and women justices, but never, ever a black woman justice! Who would dare stand in the way of history? President Joe Biden assumed that by checking all the correct woke boxes his candidate could escape the sort of vicious scrutiny, rumormongering, character-destroying attacks visited upon Republican nominees – apparently forgetting that

Back in 1967, the Reedy Creek Improvement District agreement was created to lure Disney to Florida. The agreement allows the district governmental powers to facilitate recreational projects and tourism. Florida's legislature felt that it would benefit the state if recreational organizations had the power to act as their own government in areas like property development, water control, public utilities, law enforcement, and fire protection. The mouse eagerly took the cheese, and today most of the land is owned by Walt Disney World. It's been a pretty sweet deal (snip) Now Florida legislators are threatening to pull those special privileges if Disney continues to strike at HB1557

In the final days before what appeared to be a neck-and-neck 1980 election, Republican Ronald Reagan landed a haymaker against President Carter by asking a simple question: "Are you better off today than you were four years ago?" Americans were not, and Reagan ended up beating the incumbent Democrat in a drubbing — carrying forty-four states, taking 489 electoral votes (snip) As we near what looks like his return to battle for the 2024 election, though, a potent six-word slogan reminiscent of Reagan's rhetorical thwack is inescapable: Were you better off with Trump?

'Elections are about the future, and frankly the opposition would love nothing more for conservatives to talk about the past or to talk of the mess they've made of the present, but I think it's of equal importance we focus on where conservatives at every level,

Two years ago, far-left California Governor Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, established a task force with the assigned mission of examining slavery reparations. From the beginning, it was clear that the outcome from the task force wasn’t going to be if it would recommend reparations, that was a foregone conclusion. The only question was to whom such reparations should be given. On Tuesday, that task force finally made their recommendation, and they may also have given a hint that whatever steps were to be taken would only be the beginning. After a lengthy debate and prior to holding the actual vote, the vice-chair of the task force,

Few brands are more valuable than that owned by the shareholders of The Walt Disney Company, one that now is being shattered.. In 2020, Forbes rated it as number seven in the world in value. The Biden administration will release 1 million barrels of oil each day for the next six months from U.S. reserves amid high gasoline prices. The plan announced Thursday is an effort to relieve some inflation associated with rising gasoline prices and combat other supply shortages that partly stem from Russia's invasion of Ukraine. "This record release will provide a historic amount of supply to serve as bridge until the end of the year when domestic production ramps up," the White House said. President Biden is expected to formally announce the move at a White House event Thursday afternoon.

Detroit—New vehicles sold in the U.S. will have to average at least 40 miles per gallon of gasoline in 2026, up from about 28 mpg, under new federal rules unveiled Friday that undo a rollback of standards enacted under President Donald Trump. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said its new fuel economy requirements are the strongest to date and the maximum the industry can achieve over the time period. They will reduce gasoline consumption by more than 220 billion gallons over the life of vehicles, compared with the Trump standards. They're expected to decrease carbon dioxide emissions—but not as much as some environmentalists want—and raise new vehicle prices
