Will Smith assaults Chris Rock on Academy
Awards stage

It seemed like another tiresome Oscar night devoid of any entertainment and replete with virtue signaling and political spiels. Just when you were about to yawn from boredom, Comedian Chris Rock ascended the stage to present the best documentary award. Rock began with a jab at Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz for being nominated on the same night. His next target was Denzel Washington as Macbeth, Rock said “King Lear ain’t got nothing on me.” Next, Jada Pinkett-Smith caught Rock's eye “Jada, I love you, G.I Jane 2, can’t wait to see it,” referring to the actress’s bald head.

FTA: 'A gentleman would have begun his acceptance speech by unconditionally apologizing to Chris Rock and for his actions. But Smith adopted the Alec Baldwin approach of painting himself as the bigger victim. He broke into tears -- which is no effort for an actor of his experience.' That says it all.

1. Jada and Will Smith have a very open marriage. 2. Had/has some talk show (youtube?) or podcast where Jada talks very openly about affairs, etc. 3. If you don't want anyone to comment on your hair while sitting in the Oscars audience with a comic as host, then either don't attend or wear a wig. 4. Who cares!

Actually I see this as progress in urban anger management. It was like the Bloods VS Crips after mandatory hormone treatment. The only thing missing (based on last night's actual Oscar results) would have been Oprah saying, "...YOU get an Oscar, and you get an Oscar, and you get an Oscar...you ALL get an Oscar!"

Well, it worked. I watched the highlight clip. And then it hit me. They staged this to get previous viewers to watch something that the Oscars broadcast. Sure, it wasn't ad time but think of the views registered on Fakebook and the like. They'll use it as evidence the Oscars still matter.

A big display of Black on Black violence and an apparent show of a lack of self-control by Will Smith. Maybe Kid Rock is lucky that Smith did not have a gun available to him or Rock could have been shot right in front of the big Hollywood based audience.

A group of people who view the slightest social friction as cause for immediate physical violence. Chris Rock is lucky. Lots of times these sorts of things involve pulling a gun and shooting someone over minor social disagreements, like too much or not enough ketchup on a burger.

It seems to me that the point of the superpartisan congressional January 6 Commission is to tar former president Donald Trump with inciting a riot (“insurrection” for the hyperbolic), an issue they raised and lost in the second impeachment battle. Perhaps they hope to persuade the Department of Justice to institute some cooked-up criminal charges against him for his comments on January 6. If I’m right about their objective, this week the Supreme Court in an unanimous opinion seems to have dealt them a setback.

A few days ago, porn star Stormy Daniels lost her appeal in her failed defamation suit against Donald Trump; she now owed more than $300,000 in legal fees to President Trump. "I will go to jail before I pay a penny," a defiant Daniels tweeted after the ruling. Daniels also posted a lengthy statement on Twitter where she claimed Trump had won the case “on a technicality” because her former lawyer, Michael Avenatti, failed to file a notice of appeal in her defamation suit on time. Avenatti himself was convicted in Manhattan federal court last month for defrauding Daniels out of money she was owed in a book deal

Being a Republican voter is no easy thing. Social media censor you. Companies fire you. The Department of Justice persecutes you. Democrats assault and harass you. And all the while, most Republican Party "leaders" stand back and do nothing as they watch. We've got the only political party in modern history controlled by a small group of elected officials who fundamentally disagree with the prevailing viewpoints of 90% of the voters who put them in office. Election after election, their unstated yet indisputable campaign slogan is simply, "Vote for us because we don't hate you quite as much as the other guys."

As Tuesday's Supreme Court confirmation hearing dragged into the evening hours, Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) raised a simple question about when constitutional protections for life — or even just life itself — begins. When does life begin, in your opinion," Senator Kennedy asked Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson for starters. "Senator... um... I don't... know," Judge Jackson replied, followed by an uneasy, awkward laugh. "Do you have a belief?" Kennedy pressed. "I have, um, personal religious and otherwise beliefs that have nothing to do with the law in terms of when life begins," Jackson responded. "Do you have a personal belief though about when life begins?" Kennedy probed.

But it doesn't mean the flight still isn't happening.

It is said that an unreliable ally is worse than a sworn enemy. This is because you expect the enemy to act against you. But when an ally either chooses to be a bystander when you are attacked or sides with your assailant to attack you, the treachery is both shocking and unforgivable. One such consistently untrustworthy and unreliable ‘ally’ who has been a been a disappointment is Republican Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah. His latest betrayal came during a Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee hearing on Tuesday. Romney was the sole HELP Committee Republican to vote against lifting the mask and vaccine mandates in the federal Head Start program.

It made headlines on Sunday, when Sen. Mitt Romney (RINO – Utah), claimed that Tulsi Gabbard had committed “treason” by noting, accurately and with concern, that the U.S. has admitted that there are unsecured biolabs in the path of the Russian military. Romney, however, is not the only one who has taken pro-Ukraine cheerleading to such heights that anyone who’s not out there cheering with him must be arrested. This scary, un-American trend abandons the Constitution, American law, and logic.

A school district in Washington state has passed a new policy encouraging administrators to factor in race when disciplining students. The Clover Park School District board approved the new policy on a 3-2 vote on March 14, over the objections of board members who expressed concerns that it was ill-conceived. The district in the suburbs of Tacoma will now use 'culturally responsive discipline' that encourages school staff to impose punishments that 'may be adapted to individual student needs in a culturally responsive manner.' Critics say the new approach is in effect a race-based disciplinary policy that will encourage harsher or lighter punishments based on a student's race,

Joe Biden was never smart. When I interned in Congress for two summers many years ago, other congressional members openly referred to him as one of the dumbest men on Capitol Hill.
