Shana Watson sensed an immediate difference when an electric vehicle ride-share program was launched last fall at the community center where she works in north St. Louis. "Oh, my goodness. They are so quiet. They are smoooooth. Like, you don't even know when they're started up because you don't hear the 'un, un, un,'" of a gasoline-powered engine turning over, said Watson, who serves as senior program director at the Northside Youth and Senior Service Center. "You're not getting the fumes and all of that in the air. It's clean." The three Chevy Bolt electric vehicles provide rides for seniors

It’s the Obama cash for clunkers 2.0 give away government rebates to trade in gas powered vehicles.

(1) Us vehicular emissions are down to 3% of what they were in 1957.
(2) Extra electricity needed by these vehicles can only be produced by burning carbon fuels. There is no other way
(3) The Lithium required for the batteries required will wreak havoc on the environment using current technology.
(4) EVs may require replace batteries costing up to $20,000. Are those also to be race based giveaways?
(5) Repairs and parts are expensive and scarce. Most recipients will be inner city based where the problem is more acute.
(6) This list is endless...

That's nice. Have any of these Chevy Bolts had their batteries catch fire while the po' folks were in them? Because that's been a problem. I can just see the riots when a POC gets killed by a government electric car.

How am I going to afford an electric car when I can barely afford $6 a gallon gas?

I am breeding unicorns to run on the treadmill to generate electricity! I’ll be rich until the saudis/russians build a “protect the unicorn” movement to make that illegal.
Just more racial injustice to promote #3.

Whatever. I don't have EV-phobia. Let the market decide. Meanwhile, as we are facing future worldwide "food shortages" thanks to Russia, wouldn't it make sense to end the ethanol mandate to open acerage to growing "food"?

There is no way this country can provide the electricity to power electric vehicles for even half of the people. Also, electricity must be produced with fossil fuels.

First we get taxed to get 'em the car, then we'll have to pay for their charging. And most will still be taken for granted and die from neglect.

They never consider what will happen when a storm moves through and they're without power for several days and there's no way to charge the batteries.

There is currently, NO VIABLE replacement(s) for oil, natural gas and nuclear. The self righteous who
are wheeling around in their 'righteous mobiles' need to be told loudly, publicly and OFTEN that their
vehicles are, in almost all cases, powered by COAL or natural gas.
Electricity is NOT magic. The generating capacity in this country DOES NOT have the enough excess capacity
to start supporting the recharging of MILLIONS of these glorified golf carts. Even if the capacity was
suddenly available its power would have to come from one or more of the 3 sources cited above.
This is ALL before you EVER get to battery pollution, waste, manufacturing, replacement on and on.
This is insanity based on the support of a population so ignorant ( in the truest definition of that word ) of
basic science, engineering and mathematics that they believe an economy the size of ours can actually
continue running on what is, for all intents and purposes fairy dust and unicorns !

Recall that storm in the Northeast a couple months ago, where everyone was stuck on the highway in their cars for a day and a half until the blizzard stopped? Nothing uses up EV battery power faster than running the heater. What did the EV drivers do once the battery power died? Also, once you run out of juice, it's not like you can have somebody bring you a 5-gal can full of electrons to get going again.

Well let’s hope it quells the alarming rise of carjackings taking place in Dem cities. You do not want to drive an expensive car into DC by yourself for fear of being carjacked by teenagers who don’t even know how to drive but have guns.

Why don't they make cars with solar panels and windmills on them? As you ride around, it would create its own energy.

Article says that communities of color have been ''left out of the conversation''. Giving out electric cars is a matter of fairness and justice for 'neglected communities'. Such Mumbo Jumbo won't convince anyone to go out and buy an electric car.
