Hollywood celebrities including Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo, and Jane Fonda are protesting a Canadian natural gas pipeline that they claim represents a threat to the climate and indigenous rights.
Their demand to defund the pipeline comes as energy prices are soaring around the world, putting a squeeze on working class families and sending a dire ripple effect throughout the global economy. The pipeline at the center of the fight is the Coastal GasLink, which transports natural gas across the Canadian Rockies in British Columbia to the Pacific coast.
Celebrities are putting pressure on Los Angeles-based City National Bank, citing the bank’s parent company, the Royal Bank of Canada,

If these rich celebrities had to pay $100 a gallon it wouldn't faze them. Nor would they even think hard enough to realize there are others that are suffering.

Yeah, instead, they should put all that natural gas in tanker trucks and have them chug along the highways spewing out tons of carbon emissions as they burn through all that diesel. Not to mention how those tankers tend to leak. Yeah, that will be so much better to these braindead Hollyweird lie-beral elitists!!!!!

So the ordinary American should give a crap about what these multi-millionaires think? Gas prices don't hurt them at all - even were gas $50 a gallon. But the difference between $2 and $5 a gallon definitely sets the ordinary retiree and middle-class American WAY back financially.

What idiots? The Natural gas is going to get from the source to the destination with or without the pipeline. Do you want to truck it or just send it freely through a pipe? Same thing with the Keystone pipeline the product that ran through that pipeline is still getting from its source to its destination but now they are using trucks (more costly) and it take longer.
I hate hollywood and all these not much of stars, bring back bogey and cagney et al

There's something wrong here. My father-in-law worked the gas fields of Michigan for 48 years, the last ten as the head of the western half of the Lower Peninsula. He told me a year before he died, that the Six Lakes gas fields held enough gas at the ready for over 150 years, even at the average amount of use every year.
My father-in-law was not a man who exaggerated. He worked with Red Adair several times. He knew his job.
What happened to all of that gas that he told me was on tap without any further work? I trust him long before I trust any of the clowns running this now.
Something ain't right here.

We know better than you what is good for you. You just remember your place in society. We are stars. STARS, we tell you!
Just make sure to keep paying for cable, Netflix etc. cause we get royalties from there.

#11 is right. The cancel culture runs both ways. I haven't watched.the Oscars in decades. I have no idea who Mark Ruffalo is and I can't decide whether it is Jane Fonda or Nancy Pelosi that I would nominate as the most evil, dumbest and least attractive female of this century. I would boycott their advertisers but I don't watch their shows so I have no idea who the advertisers are.

Gee, I thought the Hollywood liberals cared about the poor and minorities. Aren’t they the first ones to be hurt by the high gas prices? They must have been acting.

#7 they are protesting and trying to shut down a pipeline that is going to bring gas to the West Coast of the US. If Michigan has the gas, how will it get to the West Coast, without a pipeline? Western Canada is a lot closer to the US West Coast than Michigan and what makes you think they would not be trying to stop a pipeline that ran from Michigan to the US Wet Coast?

Re #14.
There is a HUGE network of pipelines that crisscrossing the nation. Gas in Michigan can be sent anywhere. It's like oil pipelines, it can be taken anywhere.

So how about these Hollywood glitterati di Caprio, Fonda, Ruffalo, et al, paying a significant percentage of their millions in order to finance the increased bills of the lowly class who struggle through inflation and high energy costs? Maybe what they need is to feel what the pinch feels like.

Let's shut down Hollywood. They use more fossil fuels making one movie than the average person uses in a year. They fly their equipment all over the world. They fly their actors all over the world. They use SUV's, private jets, helicopters, semi-trucks to each new set. They pay their actors so much money that they all have their own private jets. The old movies were made in Hollywood. Let's go Hollywood elites.

These professional actors aren't acting when it comes to this. We ordinary people must suffer so they can virtue signal and feel good about themselves saving the planet (!) even though there isn't any evidence. What about all the pollutants pumped into the air by China, by Russia, by India? The carbon footprint of the USA is smaller than those countries, even though our economy is bigger than those 3 combined.

What do these Hollywood jerkweeds know about pipelines and gas transmission? I worked for a major well know oil company before my retirement and departure I was in charge of gas sales to a major southern area of Louisiana gas company, United Gas. We were modernizing gas measurements into computers (late 80s). Natural gas is the cheapest to produce and cleanest to transmit in pipelines so what do I care what the likes of Leonardo Decaprio or green peacers like AOC have to shout out about.

These limousine liberals have no dog in the fight. Their wealth immunizes them against inflation and other every day concerns of average Americans. The sad thing is they are to dumb to realize that they are paid to entertain, not insert themselves in day to day stuff. That they believe people care what they think about the environment, politics or policy is laughable.
