Ukrainian refugees are being turned away at the U.S. southern border because asylum seekers are still subject to coronavirus-era Title 42, which allows migrants to be expelled due to the ongoing health emergency. President Joe Biden has kept the Trump-era policy in place and his administration has defended it in court in order to help quell the southern border crisis as the pandemic prevails and record numbers of migrants arrive.(Snip)The outlet said Tijuana journalists have witnessed dozens of Ukrainian and Russian families gathering outside the U.S. southern border and families in Tijuana claim Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents are selective of who they let in.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas announced Wednesday he will grant Temporary Protected Status to many Afghans already in the U.S., giving them a new level of status. TPS confers key benefits like work permits to migrants, allowing them a chance to put down roots in society. As a tentative legal status, it also blocks deportations, though the Biden administration had already halted removals to Afghanistan after the country’s takeover by the Taliban last year. Homeland Security said “ongoing armed conflict” involving the Taliban and attacks by Islamic State-Khorasan have left the country too unstable for people to be forced to return. “This TPS designation will help to protect Afghan

President Biden is under fire for allowing U.S. tax dollars to fund government research in Russia, including “stomach-churning” scientific tests on cats, despite championing economic sanctions against the country for its invasion of Ukraine. Republican lawmakers say that if Mr. Biden is serious about punishing Russia’s belligerence, the White House needs to stop subsidizing Moscow’s research labs. They note that Russia has four facilities conducting scientific research that are approved by the National Institutes of Health to receive grants funded by American tax dollars. “Our tax dollars should never be going to our foreign adversaries, especially as the U.S. puts crippling sanctions on the Kremlin,” said Rep. Lisa C. McClain,

Second gentleman Doug Emhoff tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday after his wife, Vice President Kamala Harris, spent the day with President Biden. The White House revealed the positive test just before 6 p.m.—after Harris joined Biden for a 2:30 p.m. bill signing event and after the VP and president huddled around 10:15 a.m. in the Oval Office for an intelligence briefing.(Snip)But Singh said that Harris would not attend an evening event on gender equality “out of an abundance of caution.” The event was scheduled to start around 5:30 p.m., but was delayed by about a half hour.

The man held in the killing of two homeless men and attacks on three others was previously found to be ‘psychotic,’ not fit to stand trial, and tried to hide his prison rap lyrics ‘in his buttocks’.
Gerald Brevard III, 30, was arrested Tuesday for the cold-blooded killings and shootings, some of which were caught on shocking video.
Brevard has a long rap sheet including armed robbery, assault with a firearm, destruction of property and theft. His father, Gerald Brevard Jr., told DailyMail.com in a statement that his son ‘suffers from mental illness’ and complained that ‘the system has failed regarding the treatment of so many, including my son.’

The Senate on Tuesday passed a bill to make daylight savings permanent from November 2023, and will now go to a vote in the House. The new legislation called The Sunshine Protection Act means that Americans will stop having to change their clocks twice a year in a ritual that was first adopted in 1918. The bill was led by Democratic Sheldon Whitehouse and his Republican colleague Marco Rubio, who has said the move could reduce crime, childhood obesity and stress.(Snip)The measure still needs approval from the House of Representatives and the backing of President Joe Biden. On Sunday, most of the United States resumed Daylight Savings Time,

Americans are reportedly panic-buying potassium iodide tablets because of fears the Russian war on Ukraine will result in nuclear fallout. Attacks on Ukrainian nuclear plants and Russian President Vladimir Putin’s decision to put nuclear forces on alert appear to be driving demand for the tablets. Manufacturer IOSAT said it is sold out of its $14 packs and identical tablets are on sale for a whopping $149 on eBay, according to the Daily Mail. “We anticipate to be restocked after mid-March,” IOSAT said on its website.
When used as directed, the tablets can prevent the thyroid from absorbing radioactive iodine.

The White House mocked the Kremlin on Tuesday, saying it had bungled the imposition of sanctions on President Joe Biden and that they would make no difference to U.S. officials who didn't have Russian bank accounts anyway. It came after Moscow slapped penalties on a string of senior officials—as well as the president's troubled son Hunter Biden and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said they were being added to a 'stop list' in retaliation for the growing economic blockade on its economy. But White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, who also made the list, laughed them off.

A recent meeting at Minneapolis' Karmel Mall was urgent for the Somali American leaders who convened it: FBI agents had been peppering business owners and shoppers with questions surrounding a fraud investigation involving government-funded child nutrition programs, and the leaders felt the whole community was once again under siege. Anxiety filled the meeting.(Snip)"This is hitting the community really hard," said Bashir Garad Dahir, who later described the meeting. "We need crystal clear answers from the government. At some point we will come out and demand it because we're concerned about the way the FBI is conducting its investigation. It is terrorizing the community."

Sen. Rand Paul said he will introduce an amendment to remove Dr. Anthony Fauci as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases—saying no one should be “dictator in chief.” Paul (R-Ky.), who often feuded with Fauci at Senate hearings over the administration’s response to the coronavirus pandemic, said American ”lives were held captive by petty tyrants and power-hungry bureaucrats” over the past two years. “We’ve learned a lot over the past two years, but one lesson in particular is that no one person should be deemed ’dictator in chief.’ No one person should have unilateral authority to make decisions for millions of Americans,”

Terrifying surveillance video captured the moment a Los Angeles man was fatally shot while walking his dog in an area neighbors described as a “no-crime zone.” Marcos Sandoval and his dog are seen walking near the corner of Genesee Avenue and Saturn Street about 5:30 a.m. Saturday when a car approaches and stops at the intersection, KCAL-TV reported. The driver gets out of the dark sedan, exchanges words with Sandoval and fires at the victim several times before fleeing northbound on Genesee.(Snip)Sandoval’s daughter described her dad as a “good person” who “had no enemies.” “We don’t know why someone would just target him,” she told KCAL.
