INDIANTOWN, Fla. -- Detectives are searching inside the Hungryland Preserve in Florida after human remains were found. The Martin County Crime Scene Detectives searched an area inside the preserve Thursday after the remains were found near a canal filled with alligators on Wednesday. "She was out here doing her job and she saw what she thought was an alligator in the water, in this body of water to my right, with what looked like to her to be a human arm," said Martin County Sheriff William Snyder. The sheriff said the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission then searched the area and found what the alligator was holding,

But then there are those which really don't make any sense. For whatever reason, USA Today's Ana Faguy thought it necessary to fact-check an article from the Babylon Bee, which most people know is a satire site. The claim in question was a social media post from March 7 that "Biden Sells Alaska Back To Russia So We Can Start Drilling For Oil There Again."
Faguy is blaming the Facebook account of "Being Libertarian," which mostly shares political articles and amusing memes.

Education Minnesota, the NEA branch that runs Minnesota’s public schools, has been making war on the state’s children for the last two years. In 2020 the teachers’ union demanded that the schools be shut down, and in a Democratic administration, what the union demands, it gets. The result, when test results came in at the end of the 2021 school year, was a catastrophic collapse in student performance.
That was bad enough. But, now that the schools are finally back in session, the Minneapolis union still doesn’t want to work. It has gone on strike, shutting down the schools once again. The context for the strike is grim:
Conventional wisdom is that the 2022 midterms will be a political bloodbath for the Democrats. For starters, historically speaking, the party in power typically loses seats. But on top of that, Biden’s poor approval ratings are dragging down his entire party, and more than 30 House Democrats have announced their retirements.
Nevertheless, during the Democratic National Committee’s winter meeting on Thursday, Biden insisted his party could defy history. How? All they’ve got to do is replicate their 2020 enthusiasm. “If we do that, we’re going to keep the House and keep the Senate — and add seats,” he claimed.

Jussie Smollett, who faked a hate crime against himself in Chicago, was sentenced Thursday. Smollett was found guilty back in December, after he conspired with two men to make it seem as if Trump supporters had attacked him and tied a noose around his neck at 2:00 AM, in the middle of a polar vortex.
While he received an initial outpouring of support, including from Vice President Kamala Harris, it quickly became apparent that his story wasn’t adding up. Why was he out after midnight getting a sandwich in sub-zero temperatures? Why didn’t he call the police right away? Why did he leave the noose on until police got there?
Jussie Smollett’s sentencing hearing is still not over. It started at 2:25 p.m. EST, 25 minutes late because Smollett didn’t bother to show up on time. At the time of publishing, it is still dragging on. The defense team is arguing its 83-page post-trial motion demanding a new trial.

Did an unwary person get too close to a body of water with a lurking alligator, or was a killer trying to get rid of the body of a murder victim? The latter might be true. Whatever happened, one couldn't imagine much worse than the involvement of spinning gators tearing off extremities. Gators are presumably in any Florida freshwater stream, river, or lake. They like swimming pools as well.
