Poland announced on Tuesday it was ready to hand all its MiG-29 fighter jets to the US, apparently as part of an arrangement to deliver the warplanes to Ukraine's armed forces where they are desperately needed to fight off invading Russian forces. The idea has been floating around for more than a week after Ukraine pleaded for more aircraft but the plan has been dogged by questions about how to deliver the planes to Ukrainian territory without dragging NATO into the conflict. Tuesday's announcement will be seen as a Polish effort to force the US and NATO to go further in backing the Ukrainian fight, but there are still mounting concerns

This doesn't make sense. Poland should just declare them surplus and tell the Ukrainians to come pick them up for $10 each + fuel charges. The US doesn't need to be involved.

Trading old Rooskie fighters, some of them junkers, not all even flyable for US fighters in fully operable condition.
Heck of a deal for Poland. And where do your get spare parts for MiG-29s.......Moscow. What could possibly go wrong?

If they are Soviet era aircraft they are pretty old (20-30 years) and once they are on Ukrainian air bases you have to figure that the Russians will make efforts to take them out. Chances are Germany will not go along with those jets flying over German (NATO) air space to Ukraine based upon Russian warnings that they would consider any country involved in transporting NATO origin aircraft to Ukraine to have become involved in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
There is reporting that the USA is going to backfill the Polish Air Force with F-16 aircraft from stocks in the USA. If that is so, that’s where the military-industrial complex fits in, as they will have to refurbish the F-16s before they are transported to Poland, and then build new fighter aircraft to replace the F-16s that Biden will be handing over to Poland.

The media's terminology drives me crazy! MiG-29s are jet fighters NOT "fighter jets" !!

Its doesn't make sense #1 because Poland has embarrassed the Blinken/Biden duo as idiots.. You want the planes, go piece them together in Germany, oh and BTW they don't have the range to do a RT back to Ukraine, God Bless Poland!

Readers are missing the point, Poland does not want any part of fighting Russia. The Migs 29 are now significantly west of Ukraine at Rammstein AB Germany requiring maintaining (no MiG 29 parts in Rammstein AB) and will need refueling to get back to Ukraine. Now Biden has to risk an act of war against Russia by providing maintenance and armament and refueling the jets on way back to Ukraine. Poland called his bluff.

The Poles have seen war. They were dominated by the communists for forty years. They are smart not to let Stinkin’ Blinken try to goad them into drawing NATO into a global conflict.
The best solution is for Zelensky to negotiate a neutral Ukraine, surrender to Russia what is of greatest concern to the Russians, and get back to enriching the kleptocrats the pollute our government. It’s best for all concerned.

Even Poland makes the Lyin' Joe bidet administration look even more idiotic and incompetent than they already did.
These are antiquated Russian MIG jets. The Russians designed and built them, and have far superior jets now. Poland gets to dump these useless jets on the Ukrainians -- who will then sacrifice some trained pilots as they are easily shot down by the Russians (since the Russians know the MIG's capabilities and weaknesses). Meanwhile, the Poles get brand new F-16's on the American taxpayer's tab.
Over in Poland, they are telling Senile Joe bidet jokes!!!

We use unmanned Mig 29’s for our fighter pilot air to air fighter tactics training target practice.

This doesn't make sense as there is a long-standing, from the beginning of time, HATRED between the Poles and the Uke's!!!! Why would Poland help Ukraine even with outdated fighter jets?

Joe remembers back in his youth when he was Chief test pilot for NASA and flew the Mig better than any Soviet pilot! Ahhh…the good old days!

Joey's answer: Run like a scared rabbit. It looks like he has more Peanut-Head Carter in him than anyone thought. Is Carter giving him secret orders?
