Federal prosecutors unsealed charges Tuesday against a woman who ran what they called a “Russian propaganda center” in New York, trying to inject Moscow’s viewpoint into American politics. Elena Branson is charged with acting as an unregistered agent for a foreign power, as well as visa fraud and lying to the FBI. The Justice Department said she left the U.S. for Russia in 2020, and remains at large.
Prosecutors said her organization, Russian Center New York, was funded by the Russian government and took direction from high-ranking officials in Moscow. Given those connections, she was supposed to have registered as a foreign lobbyist, the government says.

The Polish government confirmed on late Tuesday that it has made its entire fleet of MIG-29 fighter jets available “immediately and free of charge” to Ukraine. Last week, the Polish government asserted that sending major offensive weapons like fighter jets to Ukraine would be tantamount to “joining [the] conflict” and that NATO was not at war with Russia. Poland will send its entire fleet of MIG-29 fighter jets to the U.S. Air Force base at Rammstein in Germany, the Polish government said in a shock statement Tuesday evening, remarking the aircraft were ready to be handed over “immediately and free of charge.”

Despite an order from the Washington state governor lifting mask requirements, Seattle school kids may still have to wear face coverings until spring because the teachers union says they 'bring normalcy' to the classroom. 'Future decisions on mask use within the district will be made in partnership with public health, and its implementation will be established after consultation and mutually agreed upon guidelines that are reached through bargaining with our labor partners,' according to a statement from the Seattle Public Schools.(Snip)The teachers union, the Seattle Education Association, however, stomped the brakes on that plan, arguing that kids have gotten used to masks and would feel odd without them.

The leader of the Russian Orthodox Church said his country’s invasion of Ukraine was a divine mission in opposition to gay rights. According to a Monday report in the Moscow Times, Patriarch Kirill backed Russia’s “military operation” in Ukraine and called it a conflict over “which side of God humanity will be on.” He drew attention to Ukraine‘s gay-pride parades and pro-LGBT laws, and called them a “loyalty test” and an example of Ukraine’s attempting to refashion itself in the cultural image of NATO nations. “Pride parades are designed to demonstrate that sin is one variation of human behavior. A group of rowdy teens have harassed and attacked workers in an East Village deli near Tompkins Square Park for months, but the police have done nothing about it, the store owner says. Jay Patel, owner of Sheen Brothers Deli at 157 Avenue B, says he has called the police time and again about the teen terrors, but cops have told him their hands are tied. “I was calling the police officers every day. Those kids come in the store,” Patel said. “Sometimes, they have a metal rod, and sometimes, a baseball bat. ...
