Well, Well, Well… After All Those Draconian
Measures, Look Who’s Got COVID

The tyranny we’ve seen inflicted in the name of COVID on citizens around the world has been both widespread and disturbing. In China, where the pandemic originated, the communist government set the bar for authoritarianism by welding shut the doors of apartment buildings. We’ve seen vaccine passports in countries as varied as Switzerland and Thailand. And of course, vaccine and mask mandates in the US, Canada, and elsewhere have stirred outrage among the populace. But when it comes to prolonged and persistent autocracy, Australia has been a global leader. And wouldn’t you know it? We found out yesterday that Australia’s Prime Minister, the Honorable Scott Morrison, has tested positive for COVID.

Truth is stranger than fiction. You can't make this stuff up.

Australia and New Zealand succeeded in keeping the early variants of COVID out of the country. Well done! But Omicron is now running riot. Hong Kong now has a rapidly rising death rate, but the rest of China does not. We an expect Omicron to flash through China very soon.

#2, don't forget, Joe Stalin's nickname was "Uncle Joe". Alas, there was NO EXCUSE for leaders in the Free World to be ignorant (or play at that?), as the monstrous atrocities he had been committing and continued to do so, was known. (Except maybe Willy Durant. He wore blinders over his rose-colored glasses along with his pals at the NYT.)

Rick Wilson is one of the principal midgets at the Lincoln Project. A little man with a fat belly, which is presently full of war bluster when it’s not full of beer. Throw in his Confederate cooler, and you’ve concocted a neo-con chickenhawk. He, along with too many other chickenhawks with no skin in the game, are flooding social media with idiotic takes on what America could do about Ukraine. My favorite Lincoln Project gnome topped himself on Thursday. The Thursday tweet linked his February 28th tweet, in which he had suggested that America could transfer A10s to Ukraine, and [pilot] contractors could fly them in combat.

Unfortunately for Stephy, Cotton was more than ready to dismiss him and his stage four TDS nonsense. As reported by NewsBusters, Stephanopoulos did his damnedest to frame Putin as an egomaniacal dictator

In the past month, we have seen some turmoil in countries that are led by two different types of leaders: Justin Trudeau of Canada and Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine. While these countries are a world away, I think it is safe to say that most people, at least in North America, would have thought that the guy not having a spine made of steel would be the actor and comic from Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine. Then again, President Zelenskyy was never photographed running around in black face, so that might have been a leading indicator of the future character of each man.

In an era of inclusion, some must be excluded. Case in point: the State University of New York (SUNY) Binghamton, where a professor recently made clear her modern take on letting students speak. In times past, some university attendees loathed being called on by the teacher. Avoiding being picked was a win. These days, in order to talk at all, you’ll need to wait in line — if your skin isn’t sufficiently shaded. Or if you, like an apple, possess a stem. Such was the situation in Ana Maria Candela’s sociology class. Ana favors an approach to discussion called “progressive stacking.” Per her syllabus, as reported by the New York Post:

If you think Joe Biden is capable of exerting any image other than one of abject weakness, you can safely put that possibility out of your mind. He isn’t. Not only has he shown a level of cravenness in dealing with Putin in Ukraine over the last year, he has demonstrated an equal lack of guts in dealing with our most important security challenge: China. China is a bad actor that we have coddled for way, way too long. US companies operating in China were coerced into relinquishing intellectual property and subjected to predatory financial practices. Joe Biden’s current cognitive decline is evident to anyone paying attention, and considering the level of power that he commands, the degree to which he is deteriorating is unnerving. Additionally, it’s been clear for years that he was never going to be invited to address a convention of Mensa members. President Biden is not very bright, and never was. But what if Sleepy Joe is clairvoyant? Would that change our opinion of him? Consider the following video as evidence as Joe Biden’s psychic abilities. He’s at least as accurate as Nostradamus was on his best day:

There’s a story that hasn’t been getting a lot of the network news yet, and it may not — because it involves allegedly armed leftists and an armed homeowner. The leftists had gathered in Portland, Oregon at Normandale Park on Saturday night to march against the police shooting of Amir Locke that happened in Minneapolis on Feb. 4. A homeowner confronted members of the group at the park. A witness said that there was a lot of arguing between the homeowner and the group. Another report said that the homeowner confronted them about blocking traffic, a common BLM action. Then the shooting started.

Boston’s new mayor, Michelle Wu, took the city by surprise yesterday when she announced that Beantown’s requirement for proof of vaccination to enter most indoor businesses was being lifted “immediately.” This was particularly good news for bars and restaurants in the city which have struggled to enforce the mandate and seen their customer traffic (and profits) tanking over the course of the pandemic. The reason she gave was yet another “following the science” speech, noting that the city’s positivity, hospitalization, and ICU occupancy rates had all fallen below the previously defined limits.

Journalism today stinks! There’s no getting around it anymore. While there are exceptions, and long-form journalism is still worth reading, the news divisions today just stink. And I think my experience allows me to make that judgment. I’ve worn many hats in my life, including, during a couple of stretches, that of journalist. I have always been a consumer of news, and got into it officially through my college paper, where I was on the editorial board and wrote the occasional Op/Ed column. In the Fall of 1972, I caused a bit of a stir with an editorial column titled “Don Quixote vs. the Used Car Salesman.”

But now, there are folks raising questions about the serious head trauma he suffered. His death was attributed to head trauma in an autopsy report released on Thursday, and it was assessed to be an accident, i.e. maybe he fell and then went to sleep, and then died. Now, the description of the head trauma is much more extensive than initially suggested, according to the NY Times.

Vice President Kamala Harris used her visit to Selma, Alabama, as an opportunity to compare state Republicans who passed new election laws to 1960s state troopers who attacked Black civil rights protesters as they crossed the Edmund Pettus Bridge. Ms. Harris made the trip Sunday to commemorate the 57th anniversary of “Bloody Sunday,” the day in 1965 when White state troopers assaulted Black voting-rights demonstrators trying to cross the historic bridge in Selma. Ms. Harris described the marchers on that day as “preparing for the worst” and were kneeling in prayer as the state troopers charged at them. “Those brave marches continued to push forward to secure the freedom

But in March 2020, I was one of the leading voices urging schools to close. At the Edmund Pettus Bridge, state and local lawmen attacked the marchers with billy clubs and tear gas, driving them back to Selma. The White House on Sunday rejected the argument that increasing domestic oil production would help lower gas prices, as the cost of oil moves toward record highs. Crude oil prices rose as high as $130.50 a barrel on Sunday evening. White House press secretary Jen Psaki released a set of talking points on social media, arguing against a focus on boosting oil production in the United States. “It’s a reminder that real energy security comes from reducing our dependence on fossil fuels,” Psaki wrote, noting that Russia’s continued invasion of Ukraine was causing a spike in oil prices. Psaki pushed back against Republicans calling for more domestic oil production.

Hill argued that Trump’s request for a “personal favor” set the wheels in motion for the invasion. “[I] think there’s just the one point that sums everything up that you yourself touched on is that President Trump at a pretty critical period, withheld military assistance to Ukraine that was desperate for it at that particular junction, basically to get Volodymyr Zelensky to do him a personal favor,” Hill said.
