Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is remaining in Kyiv as the city remains under intense assault from Russian forces desperately trying to take the capital city. As we’ve reported, Vladimir Putin’s forces have suffered heavy losses over the first few days of the invasion, running into resistance they clearly didn’t expect. On Friday, Russia offered terms of peace that amounted to a full capitulation, demanding neutrality, ceding of territory, and disarmament. The Ukrainians did not immediately respond, indicating they might be willing to negotiate. That appears to no longer be the case, though, with Zelensky telling the Russians to pound sand.

Across America, jurisdictions are ending covid-related mandates and shutdowns. No more masks! No more vaccine certificates! Get the kids back in school! Of course I think these developments are all good; I have argued from near the beginning of the epidemic that shutdowns and mask mandates are useless and counterproductive. But why are liberals in government now throwing in the towel?
The standard explanation is that the extreme measures taken to “combat” covid have worked, along with vaccination. Thus, because of the great progress we have made, life can get back to normal. Joe Biden framed it in typical fashion
Washington- The Supreme Court on Friday reimposed the death sentence for Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, reversing a federal appeals court ruling that had voided it.
By a vote of 6-3, the court rejected defense claims that the judge at Tsarnaev’s 2015 trial improperly restricted the questioning of prospective jurors and was wrong to exclude evidence of a separate crime two years before the bombing. Tsarnaev was convicted of joining his older brother, Tamerlan, in planting and detonating two pressure cooker bombs at separate spots near the marathon finish line in 2013. The blasts killed three people and left hundreds of others with serious injuries.
As we previously reported, the usual suspects flipped out over a story about Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. The left pitched it as DeSantis made a kid take off his mask. Naturally, that wasn’t true. DeSantis told kids that they didn’t have to wear masks behind him if they didn’t want to, championing an individual’s choice as he always has.

A fire has broken out in a facility housing a nuclear power plant in eastern Ukraine amid shelling, according to the mayor of a nearby town. Dmytro Orlov, the mayor of the town of Energodar, accused Russian forces of shelling the facility that houses the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. The station is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe and supplies about 25 percent of Ukraine’s electricity, according to the Associated Press.
New York - RT America will cease productions and lay off most of its staff, according to a memo from T&R Productions, the production company behind the Russian state-funded network, which CNN obtained.
Misha Solodovnikov, the general manager of T&R Productions, told staff in the memo that it will be "ceasing production" at all of its locations "as a result of unforeseen business interruption events."
"Unfortunately, we anticipate this layoff will be permanent, meaning that this will result in the permanent separation from employment of most T&R employees at all locations," Solodovnikov wrote.

The results of the Texas primary elections might have given the progressive cause to be optimistic about their prospects in November. At least, this is what several left-leaning news outlets have suggested after Tuesday’s elections. However, a closer look at the situation reveals the hard left may not want to start celebrating just yet.
