As RedState reported earlier on Friday, Vladimir Putin’s plan to overtake Ukraine is not going particularly well. The four-pronged attack has stretched supply lines thin and weakened Russia’s ability to strike the decisive blow it was looking for. Specifically, plans to take the capital city of Kyiv have fallen well short of expectations and the resistance there now represents a huge problem for Russian forces starting a bloody urban conflict in the face.
Multiple airborne assaults meant to take the city have been rebuffed since the invasion began, and Ukraine has now struck a major blow on that front, downing an Il-76 transport plane. With a capacity

It also interferes with Putin's narrative that inside the Ukrainian people are Russians trying to break out.

Spin this however they want, all this is going to do is cost a lot of Ukranian lives!!! Thousands of dead or maimed Ukrainians. Massive damage to their infrastructure.
Whether this takes day or weeks, Russia is going to prevail. They are not good soldiers, but there are pretty much countless numbers of them. And they do have good weapons. They are ruthless and evil, and they will show no mercy to women, children, or old people. They will level buildings with people inside of them. They will run over people in their tanks. Bombs and missiles are cheap to them. And the longer this goes on, the more ruthless and evil Putin is going to demand they be.
Pyrrhic victories for national pride are the only victories Ukraine is going to get in this invasion. Sad...

Putin has the resources to Shock and Awe Kiev into a smoldering pit. Keeping casualties low on both sides is an important tactical move, Europe is still paying him for exports every day and he wins if instead of fighting him they remain paying customers. Again, Ukraine has 1 jet fighter, Russia has over 1,500. This spin is silly.

Ironically this is likely why Putin invaded at this time. The recently US supplied shoulder fired heat seeking missiles are deadly as these were probably used. US supplied Javelin anti-armory missiles have a similar lethality. Stocks of these weapons had to destroyed before they were widely disseminated or more were delivered dramatically raising the stakes for Russia. This makes the Russians much more likely to stay at a distance and rely on devastating artillery bombardments like those in Grozny rather than surgical actions intended by the troops on the downed transport. None of the media or professional analysis made any note of this potential escalation of the crisis simply calling them defensive weapons. The law of unintended consequences will likely result in many more civilian casualties and a protracted conflict. Of course Ukraine handing out automatic weapons and Molotov cocktails to untrained civilians and telling them to defend their country will likely cause the conflict to devolve into a Syrian style conflict as we surreptitiously feed in more arms to keep it all going.

Apparently #5, wants to leave the Ukrainians defenseless and wants the Russians to roll over them and enslave them cheaply.
Personally, I am pleased that we have armed Ukraine. And, I believe that Trump sent in the first of these weapons, and Joe only added some more, but I'm not certain of that.
In any case, a tyrant like Putin and his thug troops getting waxed is a good thing in my view. I am very much on the side of the Ukrainians on this. I know a bunch of Russians and a bunch of Ukrainians.....and the Russians are by far the more overbearing and obnoxious ones, painting with broad strokes. Of course, I have friends in both countries, and there are many good people in both countries.

This is how wars escalate. Things do not go as planned and then eventually spiral out of control.

Ukraine is roughly the size of Texas. You can knock lefties over with a feather with that one. Putin badly miscalculated. He broke it - he owns it. And Ukraine is roughly 95% the size of Russia's last failure Afghanistan. Insurgency is his next headache. Just how loyal are the Russian people to Putin? Are the oligarchs his only friends (if you can call them friends with a straight face)?

Those who say the demise of Ukraine is imminent are probably correct, but while it lasts, their resistance against Putin is a glorious thing to behold, and a lesson for us, useful in the near future.?
I admit I learned nothing from the Alamo.
