Florida has the highest stakes of eight
states where redistricting isn't finished

Only eight states haven't redrawn their congressional lines, which will be in place for a decade. With House Republicans needing to net only five seats to win a majority in the 435-member chamber, each seat this redistricting cycle has taken on outsize meaning. In addition to 44 states that have had to redraw their lines following the 2020 census, six states have low enough populations that they only have a single House member. So, overall, the redistricting process, when completed, will have affected 429 House seats.

Comments:

FTA - - "Gov. Ron DeSantis began to push for more aggressive redistricting. . . . State Republicans are currently in talks over which direction to move in." The Floriduh Pubbies are dying to cave in to the demonrats - - but mean, old Gov. De Santis won't let them.

Republican states (like Florida and Missouri) capitulate while Democrat states (illinois, New York, and California make nearly-extinct species like the Red tuna, Asian elephant, and Vaquita porpoise look commonplace compared to the Republican Congresscritter. Believe it or not, two can AND SHOULD play at this game.

Kansas , where the legislature is heavily Republican passed a new districting plan which would get rid of a Democrat seat, Dim governor vetos, Republicans override veto, now it's in court. We will lose this one unless they stand strong.

There should be NO redistricting...make the district lines follow the current county lines. NO gerrymandering, by either side...

Three days after US officials first used the term “China Virus” on a national news broadcast, a barrage of anti-Asian attacks began in New York City. Within hours, two Asian Americans were separately assaulted — the first of such hate crimes in the city for the year and marking a deeply troubling, sometimes deadly trend that continues today. “Where is your corona mask, you Asian b—h?” a 23-year-old woman was asked March 10, 2020, before she was slugged in the face.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) slammed Democrat President Joe Biden during an interview with The Daily Wire this week over his handling of foreign policy and national security matters. “Literally, every region on Earth has gotten markedly worse since Joe Biden became president and worse from the perspective of U.S. national security,” Cruz said. “Biden combines radical leftist ideology with manifest incompetence. And it’s a toxic brew, last seen with Jimmy Carter, and the debacle of foreign policy that unfolded under his disastrous administration, Biden’s administration in just a year is already worse than Jimmy Carter.”

With the entire Russiagate affair exposed as a Clinton campaign fabrication, it’s the clear duty of The Washington Post and New York Times to give back the Pulitzers they won for “reporting” the fake news. Clinton campaign cash ordered up the “Steele dossier,” with Democratic operatives providing some of the rumors and a cynical Russian exile asking buddies to supply rank speculation for the rest. Other Clintonites actually hacked Trump computers, including White House ones after he took office, to create another smear, as Special Counsel John Durham’s latest filing revealed.

nearthed Hillary Clinton tweets from days before the 2016 presidential election show the candidate pushing now-debunked information that Donald Trump was using a "covert sever" linking him to Russia. Just a day after Fox News first reported that Special Counsel John Durham alleged that lawyers from her campaign had paid to "infiltrate" servers belonging to Trump Tower, and later the White House, in order to establish an "inference" and "narrative" to bring to government agencies linking Trump to Russia.

The hits just keep coming for Caryn Elaine Johnson — AKA: Whoopi Goldberg — in the aftermath of her on-air claims about the Holocaust, during which an estimated six million Jews died at the hands of Adolf Hitler’s Nazis. But as Whoopi saw it, earlier this week, the near-extermination of Europe’s Jews was “not about race.” As the fallout from that hot mess continues, a previous related controversy has re-emerged.

The Biden administration has waived sanctions related to Iran’s civilian nuclear activities as part of its efforts to bring the regime back into compliance with the 2015 nuclear deal – while stressing that the waivers did not equal sanctions relief for Tehran. Secretary of State Antony Blinken signed a waiver that restored the ability of foreign companies and other countries to participate in civilian nuclear and safety projects in Iran without facing U.S. sanction. The Wall Street Journal, which first reported the development on Friday, reported that the waivers are aimed at turning Iran’s heavy-water Arak reactor into a less-dangerous light-water reactor,

That is the lowest approval and highest disapproval in the regular Reuters/Ipsos poll since Biden’s inauguration. Lest there's been any confusion in whom the redistricting efforts are favoring, the Cook Political Report earlier this week declared that Democrats have taken the lead in benefiting. David Wasserman wrote up a report for the site on Friday, following a tweet on Thursday explaining the lead, which is the first time that Democrats have taken such a lead this cycle. Wasserman points out that from the new maps, with the process being about two-thirds of the way over, "Democrats are now on track to net two to three seats from new maps alone," which he calls "a significant shift."

As the Biden administration continues to suffer low approval ratings and frequent setbacks, some are calling for President Joe Biden to make major staffing changes. One prominent target is White House chief of staff Ron Klain, as critics say he has steered the administration into an ever-leftward position and a number of unforced errors. Most recently, Indiana Sen. Mike Braun called for White House staff term limits on Groundhog Day, calling for Klain and 18 other Biden aides to be drained from the swamp.

Five robbers swarmed a high-end Soho boutique Thursday afternoon, stealing $48,300 worth of luxury goods and injuring a security guard. The brazen heist happened around 12:30 p.m. at the Celine Boutique on Wooster Street, where some pricey handbags retail for thousands of dollars, the NYPD said. Two suspects casually entered the Manhattan store before three cohorts pushed the door open and fought with the French boutique’s security, according to police. One guard suffered an injury to his elbow and thumb during the fracas. The suspects fled the store with their haul and remained on the run Friday night, police said.

Albuquerque, N.M.—Federal officials have come up with a list of potential replacement names for hundreds of geographic features in three dozen states that include the word “squaw,” kicking off a public comment period that will run through late April. U.S. Interior Secretary Deb Haaland in November formally declared the term derogatory and initiated a process to remove the word from use by the federal government and to replace other existing derogatory place names. Haaland said in a statement Tuesday that words matter, particularly as the agency works to make the nation’s public lands and waters accessible and welcoming to people of all backgrounds.
