With Mediterranean-style seafood menu and breath-taking views of downtown Seattle, Westward restaurant sits on prime waterfront real estate in the Lake Union neighborhood. (Snip) Even after a recent sweep by city crews, Northlake Way remains jam packed with dozens of RVs and vehicles that have homeless people living inside. (snip) That’s why a few weeks ago, Westward’s building owner Mark Grey and some other area businesses bought massive concrete slabs known as ecology or "eco" blocks at a cost of $20 a piece.

Comments:

These are drug addicts, not workers priced out of apartments. Illegal parking. Selling drugs. Stealing from businesses and residences. Mayor Harrell and city council don’t allow police to stop it.

Locals place eco-blocks on streets to prevent homeless from parking their decrepit RVs there, taking up residence and scaring away customers. City threatens them with $1,000 fines for illegally placing large objects on the street. But the city takes no action against the even larger RVs and associated detritus the homeless place there. Sounds about right for leftist-run cities.

If the city government that favors derelicts and addicts over tax-paying businesses will get more of the former, and less of the latter. Just a matter of time.

It's interesting they call the concrete slabs Eco-Blocks. Makes them sound environmentally friendly. How can a Seattleite object to anything with a 'green' angle? Although the eco-blocks are ugly they seem to be working.

Here is the problem in a nut shell. We make homelessness comfortable! There is no reason for these people to try to improve their situation because the leftist bleeding hearts give them everything they need. Homelessness used to be called what it really is: Vagrancy! Crime and homelessness should be unbearably uncomfortable. There is no greater incentive to get out of a bad situation than to make it impossible to bear. They need to be back in the institutions that the bleeding heart liberals closed down in the 70’s. That’s why they live among us now.

The giant concrete blocks don't allow legitimate residents and customers to park. But since the relentless RV presence also blocks legitimate residents and customers from parking, I guess getting rid of the RV ghetto scourge is a net win for residents and businesses.

What happened to the tent city / prison concept of Joe Arpaio and the enforcement of vagrancy laws. A drug addict's mind can get cleared up pretty quickly (6 months?, a year?) after a diet of a bologna sandwich, an apple or orange and a bottle of water for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day.

You can call them Eco-Blocks if you want to. I'll stick with the original "Merkel Lego". Designed and placed to prevent Christmas Market revelers from fully enjoying the "Vibrant Diversity" of unlimited migration. Kinda keeps the full flavor of the complete and total failure of global "elites" for me. When you have had enough, hang a few, the rest will get the message.
