Walmart has started securing high-priced steaks inside locked metal cages amid rising crime rates across the U.S., a new viral video has revealed. Michael Fromhold, from Florida, was stunned when he noticed that the meat at his local Walmart had been locked up in what appears to be a rather dramatic attempt to prevent people from stealing it. Michael took a video of it and shared it to TikTok where it quickly went viral - gaining more than four million views in a matter of days - and the clip lead some viewers to lament the fact that such measures have become necessary.

I didn't know Florida had a large Amish population.

Perhaps a couple of big guys to check shopper’s receipts like they do at Costco, only armed to the teeth?

Our Walmart has liquor behind locked doors for the last couple of years. Good luck finding someone with a key.

We pay in higher prices when they steal. We pay in higher prices when they hire security people. We pay in higher prices when they install cages and locks. No matter what we do, these dindus cost us. One would think that at some point it would all be worth it. So far, no luck.

Florida surprises me. If this was happening in Kalifornia or Chicongo or NY, I'd believe it. So far, I haven't seen this here in rural Louisiana. The only thing behind bars is some really high end liquor. The Ripple and the Colt 45 is there for the taking.

This might stop the thugs for a little while, but like an earlier comment said, they will simply start carrying wire and bolt cutters to reach those steaks. Of course it would help if the DA's would do their job and throw the book at most of them.

What is happening is that a small portion of the USA population has gone tribal in essence reverting back to middle age times. If that is allowed to continue by the leftist, progressive, and socialist Democrats, retailers with be forced to go to a situation where all purchases must be made by computer, using an Amazon ordering style whereby orders are either picked up in secure receiving areas at the stores or are delivered to residences after the orders have been paid for. If it comes to that, the Democrats, who are absolutely to blame for all the increased shoplifting due to their insane policies that allow criminals including the shoplifters to run free, especially in the Democrat run big cities are going to be crushed in the November General Election.

The democrats have given the green light to rob, pillage, rape, and push people into subway trains. When will they be called on it?

The Lady Chihuahua purchased 4 ribeyes yesterday totaling nearly $70. She likes her steaks. The price, not at all. No locks yet, but this was at a Publix. In Land O Lakes.

I thought I read of a large meat department theft yesterday.
Some well-known types will steal about anything of value.

I have a friend who just retired after years of working as a butcher in a grocery store that was in an “underserved” are of the city. He said the daily theft in his department alone was astounding.

Yes, the democrats are bad. But when is the last time you saw a Republican raise there voice or fight the Democratic wing of the Uniparty beyond writing an occasional stern letter.

Years ago, grocery stores had clerks behind a counter. You told them what you wanted, and they went to the back and brought it to the counter. Looks like it will come around again, but the clerks will have to be behind bulletproof glass.

Some of the tweets lists are insane. 'lower the prices so people wouldn't steal' 'So sad that people need to steal meat'.
Some people have always 'lifted' - it's their gift. It just became popular now. And not all of that hot merch is being eaten, but re-sold. Many times for drugs.
P.S. I thought meat was an allowed EBT food item.

So here's what will happen: Customers will be so discouraged seeing meat in chains. Those cuts won't sell. The price will need to drop as the "sell by date" is reached.
Problem solved.
