Pennsylvania's most famous groundhog emerged from his burrow on a cold Wednesday morning and saw his shadow, declaring there would be six more weeks of winter. Punxsutawney Phil made his annual prediction as another major winter storm is bringing heavy snow, ice and freezing rain to a large portion of the country. Thousands of people from around the nation and other countries gathered at Gobbler's Knob as members of Phil's "inner circle" summoned him from his tree stump at dawn to learn if he had seen his shadow, a message they said Phil communicated in "groundhogese." After Phil's prediction was announced, the crowd repeatedly chanted "six more weeks!"

Groundhog Day is one of my favorite movies. The big winter storm means Global Warming is making winters everywhere colder. Basically, Science says Global Warming is cooling the planet. It's pretty straightforward Science. Anyone who says otherwise probably thinks lockdowns and masks were worse than useless and caused untold misery for nothing. What retards.

Phil is a rodent--not a meteorologist. But I applaud the creative folks in Punxsutawney, PA for putting together a great special event to bring economic benefits to the town.

Well, I got out my tractor with the blade and bladed off my parking area and part of my driveway this afternoon. This is the third time this year. The whole "global warming" fraud is clearly not matching reality. I often don't use the snow blade even once in a mild winter. Been using it even more in the last few years.

It may take six weeks for all that snow falling and swirling outside to melt, with what temps will be around for the next week. Snow piles from the last one hadn't even totally melted. I tell myself every day down is another day closer to Spring. Radio reports we may have up to 12+ inches before it stops some time tomorrow.

When the New York Post published information about the tawdry access-peddling business dealings of President Joe Biden’s son a month before the 2020 election, much of the major media refused to cover it. Some of them even called it (without any evidence) Russian disinformation. Big Tech's social media platforms took the unprecedented step of throttling access to the stories.... It showed how Joe Biden’s family used his power to gain riches, and how Biden thought there was nothing wrong with it.

ERBIL, Iraq (Reuters)—Iran‘s Revolutionary Guards claimed responsibility for a dozen ballistic missiles that struck Iraq's northern Kurdish regional capital of Erbil in the early hours of Sunday, Iran‘s state media reported, adding that the attack was against Israeli "strategic centres" in Erbil. The missiles targeted the U.S. consulate among other sites, according to the Kurdish regional government. The missile attack comes as talks to revive the 2015 Iran nuclear deal face the prospect of collapse after a last-minute Russian demand forced world powers to pause negotiations for an undetermined time despite having a largely completed text.

Pay for the food of the developing world or face another migrant crisis — this is the ultimatum the head of the UN’s World Food Programme has put to Europe’s leaders. The dramatic warning comes as the global organisation begins to struggle to pay for the food it gives to famine-stricken parts of the world, with the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine disrupting food supply globally and, by extension, driving up prices.

He came, he saw, he confused. Joe Biden’s call-to-arms speech in Poland was long on soaring rhetoric about the virtues of democracy but woefully short on what more the West will do to help Ukraine defeat the Russian invasion. But by the time he got to the finish, most of that was forgotten. What mattered most and what will be remembered for a long time was a single line the president of the United States said about the president of Russia: “For God’s sake, this man cannot remain in power.”(Snip)Maybe the idea just popped into Biden’s addled brain and he added it on the fly.
