IRS changes: Why more tax return money
could be coming to some

Washington—The Internal Revenue Service says more people without children now qualify for a larger tax break. The Earned Income Tax Credit is the federal government’s largest refundable tax credit for low- to moderate-income families and those who qualify can reduce the amount of taxes they owe and get a bigger refund. In years past, the credit was for eligible, working families but now the age bracket has expanded for lower-income workers with no children also applying for it, according to the IRS.(Snip)“There are important changes to EITC that will help this credit reach more hard-working families this year,” said IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig.

Comments:

By using our tax dollars to supplement wages that would otherwise have to be high enough for people to provide for themselves, the Earned Income Tax Credit, Medicaid, and many other such programs give Americans the enviable luxury of having chain stores on every corner. Where would we be without a CVS, a Walgreens, and a Rite-Aid within steps of one another?

What's a refund? I always have to send them money and usually get a penalty for not having enough income with held. No point in complaining about it since I don't want to go to the pokey. But when I look at the ways my tax money is spent it makes me sick.

The United States, China and North Korea are among only six countries that allow abortion on demand throughout the entirety of pregnancy, according to research comparing America to the rest of the world. Canada, Vietnam and South Korea are the other three outliers, according to a study released last week by the Family Research Council, an evangelical Christian advocacy group. Overall, 69 nations permit elective abortion and 58 of those countries restrict it after 14 weeks of gestation, just after the first trimester, the study found.(Snip)The study found that 99 of the nearly 200 nations surveyed ban abortion from the moment of conception or allow abortion only

It’s a Dutch re-treat. Manhattan’s elite Collegiate School set up a special task force and spent three years debating its “Dutchman’’ mascot and motto—then issued a 400-page report that’s a lesson in wokeness-run-amok, critics say. The Herculean effort at PC reform led the $60,000-a-year Upper East Side school to not only drastically alter its winking playful mascot image—but also toss “God” from its motto and even “A.D.” from its seal, considering both potentially offensive.(Snip)The K-12 school—which counts John F. Lockdowns in the U.S. and Europe had little or no impact in reducing deaths from COVID-19, according to a new analysis by researchers at Johns Hopkins University. The lockdowns during the early phase of the pandemic in 2020 reduced COVID mortality by about 0.2%, found the broad review of multiple scientific studies. “We find no evidence that lockdowns, school closures, border closures, and limiting gatherings have had a noticeable effect on COVID-19 mortality,” the researchers wrote. But the research paper said lockdowns did have “devastating effects” on the economy and contributed to numerous social ills. “They have contributed to reducing economic activity, raising unemployment, reducing schooling, causing political unrest,

A 'Freedom Convoy' of trucks joined by thousands of demonstrators brought Ottawa to a virtual standstill for a second day on Sunday as they protested Canada's vaccine mandates, as other sympathetic truckers blocked a border highway into the United States. The truckers say there is no 'end date' in sight and plan to stay in the capital 'for as long as it takes' and until the Canadian government flips and withdraws its policy on vaccine mandates. The chaos clogged the capital's downtown near parliament throughout the weekend and brought criticism from officials, including Ottawa's mayor who said residents were 'prisoners in their own home.'

"I think one of the fundamental things we've got to do in addition to some of the changes we'll make, which we won’t get into it today, is that if we figure out why they're leaving in the first place," the president continued.
