A new law proposed in South Carolina could make it illegal for an employer or other organization to ask about a person’s vaccine status.
South Carolina House Bill 4848, also called the “don’t ask” bill, would make questions about a person’s COVID-19 status a misdemeanor crime.
“Notwithstanding another provision of law to the contrary, any employee, officer, agent, or other representative of a public, nonprofit, or private entity who inquires about the COVID-19 vaccination status of any student, employee, member, or anyone else seeking admission on the entity’s premises is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, must be fined not more than fourteen thousand dollars

I live in SC and the only time I have ever been asked if I’m vaccinated was by a doctor when getting a covid test back before Christmas. Even my own GP didn’t ask at my annual check-up last year. That said, this is great news and should pass the legislature easily.

I was casually asked of I had been vaxed and responded by asking if they had AIDS or HIV. They looked surprised and dropped it.

Aw shucks, you mean to tell us that Americans have rights too???? You are not allowed to ask an illegal a ton of questions. Most of them declined to be vaccinated.... of course, they are of a superior cast, because everything they do is way above our rights. They even get to fly around the country for free, live in $300 plus hotel rooms and get 3 free meals. Oh, BTW, we do have thousands of homeless vets. Now we are finally given a teeny, weeny law that gives us possibly the right to walk around without an additional identification paper!

Working for a medical company, we had to participate in HIPAA training every year to understand what patient info could or could not be disclosed to the point of obfuscating data on reports or screen displays. Data to be stored in the AWS cloud had to be encrypted to prevent inadvertent disclosure to non-company engineers. Data sent over the wire also had to be encrypted to prevent interception.
So I don't understand how a restaurant hostess or manager at a big-box store qualifies to know anything about my health status any more than I have a right to theirs.

That law should be universal. It should be illegal for anyone -especially the government - to ask about anything that is none of their business - for example, sex, age, nationality, ethnicity, skin color, income, marital status, children, religion . . .

C'mon man include state employee and/or agency as well. Be brave or sit down.

Nobody bothers to compare the response to the AIDS crisis with today's response to COVID. That period provides a fine benchmark of how far into crazytown we've traveled.
During the height of AIDS, anyone in America could get an anonymous AIDS test. Try getting a COVID test whose result isn't immediately shared with your local health officials, making you subject to criminal penalty.

The dream. My kids have been severely affected by how Newsom has handled Covid. All the companies who require you to be vaxxed has limited them where they can work. They are both college educated professionals. I want to sue some of these places for this covid vax mandate. California is Commiefornia right now more than ever.
