The Economist pointed to the growing diversity of gun owners in America and noted that it is “bad for gun-control advocates.”According to The Economist, a study by of Northeastern University shows that of the millions of first time buyers between January 2019 and April 2021, “half were female, a fifth black and a fifth Hispanic.”Moreover, The Economist noted that “the share of black adults who joined the gun-owning ranks, 5.3%, was more than twice that of white adults.”The demographics are a marked shift from 2015, when first time gun buyers “skewed white and male.”

Brandon will be acknowledged by gun shops as a most accomplished firearm salesman. He will also be acknowledged by the RNC as a most accomplished recruiter of registered republicans.

Good news for overall safety. The more often a violent criminal gets pushed out of the gene pool, the safer the country is. It's always good news when a violent felony discovers he's not the only one armed in the encounter. Often, this is a final lesson. Since the police are being defunded and defanged.....we have to take up the mantle of protectors for ourselves. And the very large number of states with simple, objective standards for CCW permits (41 states), or Constitutional Carry (if you can legally own it you can carry it) is up to 21 or 22 states. This is good news for gun rights. I worked for 12 years to get our state CCW law passed, and we are now a Constitutional Carry state for several years. The two reasons I worked on it were 1) the obvious, that good people will save their own or other's lives by being armed and 2) the more people who are legally armed, the more the average person will know one or more good people who carry a gun. Those people will know that being armed isn't a cause of violence, but a way of providing safety, stopping violence. This second reason is working very well across this nation. In the 1970s the National Coalition to Ban Handguns had a very real chance to literally make the ownership of ANY handgun illegal by federal law. They worked hard, but largely due to the NRA, were unable to get it passed. I think now that that goal is far out of reach. And in a few months, it is likely that the Supreme Court will strike down all non-objective standards CCW restrictions, and require objective standards only, which is normally called "shall issue". Meet the written standards, get a permit. And Constitutional Carry will continue to spread. I'd like the states to be forced to recognize out of state CCW permits, the same as out of state driver's licenses.

The old social compact was ''don't take the law into your own hands, call the police''. Citizens paid large amounts of municipal taxes to hire, train, and equip modern police departments. Now, with the ''defund the police'' crowd. Calling the police is considered to be ''privilege''. So, now [as always, really, the police have never been obligated to protect individuals] we are on our own.

That's growing diversity of LEGAL gun owners. It seems to me that thugs -- even thugs o' color -- have always had plenty of guns.

In the 1950s a series of Congressional committees were formed with the ostensible goal to root out communists in the United States. Sen. Joe McCarthy became the face of the effort and its inevitable lighting rod. The genesis of the hearings may be traced to McCarthy delivering a speech to a West Virginia woman’s club, and famously holding a piece of paper in his hand, declaring he had the names of 205 communists. In fact, there was no such list. It was theater.During that decade several hearings were chaired by McCarthy on the Senate side and others chaired by House members. Each committee threw wide nets to fish for communists

A solid majority of Americans know that the 2020 election was fraudulent. That’s a big problem for a country with a representative government, one in which the leaders are supposed to represent the will of the people. We’re a nation of laws ostensibly flowing from a Constitution that sets out explicit limitations on the federal government’s powers and protects a variety of citizens’ rights upon which said government cannot infringe. To the degree that a significant majority of citizens feel that the leader of this government was not constitutionally elected, that’s a problem. For all its importance, our Constitution is nothing more than a piece of paper. It doesn’t make laws.
