Lincoln Project founder Rick Wilson said Friday on MSNBC’s “The ReidOut” that the Republican Party wanted the 2024 presidential election to be the last election in America.Wilson said, “They’re trying to throw so much friction into voting and all the sand into the machine, especially in communities they don’t feel will be reliable voters for them. So they are not going to b**** and moan about early voting in a red county. ”He continued, “This is exactly the kind of mechanism that proto authoritarian states and authoritarian states set up. They want to say who can vote, when they can vote, how they can vote, when the votes are counted.

Arnold Schwarzenegger was involved in a car crash on Friday afternoon in Los Angeles that involved four vehicles and left his enormous black SUV perched on top of another car, leaving one other driver with a head injury. The former governor, 74, was driving his GMC Yukon SUV and was about to turn onto busy Sunset Boulevard, about half-a-mile from his home in the Brentwood, when he smashed into a red Toyota Prius at 4:35pm. The Prius was said to have been making a U-turn in the road when the collision occurred. The impact of the crash was so severe that the Prius' airbags deployed

Mayor Eric Adams demanded assistance Sunday from Washington D.C. to block the “constant flow” of firearms into the Big Apple, days after an NYPD cop was killed and another officer was left fighting for his life after they were shot—declaring “the federal government must step in.” “The police department is doing their job taking thousands of guns off the streets, yet each time you take a gun off, there’s a constant flow of new guns coming here,” he said on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”(Snip)During a subsequent TV appearance, Adams speculated that even though cops seize many firearms, they are quickly replenished by even more of them

A 19-year-old man who was fatally shot by Metro Police in the southeast valley Monday had no connection to a murder police were investigating when they entered an apartment to serve a search warrant, police said today at a briefing.
Assistant Sheriff Andrew Walsh said Isaiah Tyree Williams, 19, was shot by officers several times as they tried to serve a search warrant related to a November 2021 homicide. Two officers were injured in the exchange.
Police announced their presence by yelling “police department, search warrant” multiple times at about 5 a.m. before entering the apartment in the 3000 block of South Nellis Boulevard, Walsh said.

All 14 black Mississippi state senators, all Democrats, walked out before a vote on a bill that forbids teaching students at public schools and colleges that 'that any sex, race, ethnicity, religion or national origin is inherently superior or inferior.' The bill later passed passed 32-2, with only two Democratic legislators—David Blount and Hob Bryan, both white—voting against it. It now heads to the Mississippi state House for approval. The unprecedented walkout on Friday followed a two-hour debate when Democratic lawmakers asked whether or not Critical Race Theory (CRT), which centers on the idea that racism is systemic in the nation’s institutions and that they function

The National Public Radio reporter behind a story about face masks and the Supreme Court that the justices themselves have denied remained defiant on Thursday after one of NPR’s own editors criticized her story.Nina Totenberg, NPR’s veteran legal affairs correspondent, had an intense reaction to NPR’s public editor Kelly McBride saying the story “merits a clarification, but not a correction,” without which NPR risks losing credibility with readers.“She can write any goddamn thing she wants, whether or not I think it’s true,” Totenberg told The Daily Beast. “She’s not clarifying anything!”She laughed and then added, “I haven’t even looked at it, and I don’t care to look at it

After a long and storied career, I would like to say that I have amassed a fortune. But not yet. However, I have faced 300-foot flame lengths as a firefighter, been asked to remove suspected anthrax from a county jail wearing nothing but a respirator mask and some rubber gloves, and been kicked out of a café in Paris because I realized I didn’t have enough money to pay for my beer (and I mean literally kicked in the ass into the gutter on the Champs-Elysées).

The CDC has officially moved the goalposts on what it means to be vaccinated from COVID-19. We all knew this day was coming, even as an onslaught of “fact-checkers” assured us it was “misinformation” to assert such a change was coming publicly. But first, let’s talk about the details.
CDC Dir. Rochelle Walensky appeared on CBS News and shared the news that the two-dose regiment will no longer suffice to be considered “fully vaccinated.” Instead, you will need a booster jab in order to be classified as “up to date.” That comes as part of a “pivot” in language by the government, one that many were maligned for predicting.

New Jersey has banned police officers from lingering around polling stations and ballot drop boxes on election days under a new law that advocates argued was needed to protect against voter intimidation.
Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy signed the Democratic-sponsored bill into law earlier in the week after it passed the Democratic-controlled state Legislature mostly along party lines. It says both plain-clothed or uniformed police need to keep at least 100 feet from polling stations or drop boxes.

A University of Washington language guide is calling everyday words used by Americans “problematic.”The University of Washington Information Technology department released an “inclusive language guide” that lists a number of “problematic words” that are “racist,” “sexist,” “ageist,” or “homophobic.”According to the guide, words such as “grandfather,” “housekeeping,” “minority,” “ninja,” and “lame” are considered “problematic words.” For example, the language guide states that the word “lame” is considered problematic because it’s “ableist.”
