The first shipment of a $200 million U.S. security assistance package aimed at boosting Ukrainian defense forces arrived in Kyiv, the U.S. Embassy announced Saturday. The delivery touched down at Kyiv’s Boryspil International Airport amid heightened tensions stemming from Russia’s troop buildup along its border with Ukraine.
“The donation, which includes close to 200,000 pounds of lethal security assistance, including ammunition for the front line defenders of Ukraine, demonstrates the United States’ strong commitment to Ukraine’s sovereign right to self-defense,” the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv said in a statement.(Snip)The U.S. has committed more than $650 million in security assistance to Kyiv over the past year.

The memo is out, Kiev is now Kyiv. Is this to make the rest of us , not a part of the MSM appear to be uninformed and stupid for being up on the latest? My Ukrainian grandmother pronounced it Keeve, as in sleeve. And what about Qatar which we were told by the always smug MSM, was pronounced Cutter. So why wasn't it spelled that way?

This is the first shipment? and we've known about this problem for how long, now?
As usual Joe Biteme is a day late and a dollar short. Maybe it would have gotten there, sooner, if ''the Big Guy'' had been promised his usual 10 percent cut.

There was at one time a king in Brazil. The United States was not comfortable with kings and helped the rebellion.
There was once a part of the Russian Federation that rebelled. the United States .... etc etc etc.

The 'assistance' was most likely cots and old blankets.

When the Russians move in they will get the 2,000 lbs. of lethal help, just like the Taliban got our weapons when we left Afghanistan.

This shipment and others like it, announced publicly in the international media may well serve as a catalyst for the Russians to speed up their invasion timetable if they have one.

Amir Tsarfati is reporting on Telegram a video of a convoy of US M1A1 Abrams tanks rolling in Romania.
You will never hear of this on CNN.

If the Ukraine is not worthy of being a NATO member why are we giving them millions of dollars in aid? Europe has much more to lose that we do with a Russian controlled Ukraine, pass the hat over there. Maybe Hunter and Joe have the usual side deal going with Ukraine? Close the Mexican border and FJB.

We are supplying laser/wire guided anti-tank missiles that defeat any armored vehicle and shoulder fired Stinger anti-aircraft heat seeking missiles that are deadly to helicopters. This is a major provocation and raises the possibility Russia will have to act which is exactly what they have been saying all along. The US will be running a war on their doorstep. Have we lost our minds? Millions of Russians perished on this territory fighting the Nazis. They have not forgotten. Had they realized all this would come to pass after the breakup, they would have spliit very differently. Unfortunately the Administration is clueless, sleepwalking into another proxy war which will gain us nothing, is completely avoidable and will embolden China.

Actually, it would have been faster and a lot cheaper sending all the equipment that we left behind in Afghanistan and shipped those billions to the Ukraine. Of course, the clown administration, its top moron, blinken blanken, Austin, and milley vanilly could not think that fast. Remember when our troops got blown up, jerk Austin stated, 'there is nothing I can do'! We are in #it troubles when we get hit with this filth of human trash in the WH!!

The military "help" is a day late and a dollar short. Want to stop this aggression? Let them know Ukraine has just joined NATO because of the Russian aggressive actions. Let them know an attack on Ukraine is now an attack on NATO and tell them you can expect a full retaliatory response if they attack. Otherwise this is another 1938 Munich surrender was to Adolf Hitler. We need to make the Russians give pause. If we allow the Ukraine to be over run the next attack is Poland and the are part of NATO.

You are dead wrong, have it perfectly backwards, #13. If Ukraine has strong weapons to defeat Soviet helo gunships and tanks - it is a DETERRENT to attack, like any other "peace through strength" system.

$200 mil? It'll take a lot more shipments to get up to the $80 bil we left for the Taliban.

I keep thinking about the millions of restaurant menus in circulation with "Chicken Kiev" as an option. They must now be changed to "Chicken Kyiv" or it will be false advertising.

Not a problem, #20. There are various dishes that are "Florentine", too.
Don't try to locate "Florence, Italy" on an Italian map, it only exists on American maps. The actual name of the city is Firenze, and always has been.
I never quite understood why the actual name was not used, but it isn't. When I lived in Italy, I was surprised that Americans (I don't know who else uses this, probably Brits, too) use a wrong name when Firenze isn't actually difficult to spell or pronounce. Kyiv at least has the claim of a different alphabet and not sounding anything like the American phonetics of the cyrillic spelling version.

USA remains steadfast not only in leaving its own national border undefended and porous, but in inviting any and all foreign invaders to enter and receive assistance provided by US taxpayers. At the same time, the Pentagon needs to supply Ukraine with close to 200,000 pounds of unspecified lethal security assistance (cash? classified night vision scopes? access codes that will further compromise USA?), which Russia will gladly take as soon as they make their minor incursion across the border.
