West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin said pointedly Tuesday that ending the legislative filibuster won't make the Senate work better – just as President Joe Biden flew to Georgia to demand changes in Senate rules to push through voting rights legislation. 'We need some good rules changes to make the place work better. But getting rid of the filibuster doesn’t make it work better,' Manchin told reporters in the Capitol Tuesday morning. He has allowed he might be open to a formal rules change – based on two-thirds of those voting present to do so. He called that a case of 'Democrats, Republicans changing the rules to make the place

I would say that Manchin is one of the few Demon-Rats safe from "unexpectedly committing suicide" for crossing the party bosses -- since he lives in a conservative state that would almost certainly replace him with a Republican. He may be bucking them on these bills (thank God), but he is still a fairly dependable Demon-Rat vote most of the time and they need him to keep control of the Senate.
But given how desperate the Demon-Rats are to codify election theft across the entire country, their anger may get the better of them and Manchin may just "unexpectedly commit suicide" (or die in a freaky car "accident") before this is all said and done.
Demon-Rats tend to be very short-sighted and not really think through the long-term consequences of their evil idiocies very often!!! I think it's that serious lack of working brain cells that a person has to have to be a lie-beral!!!

If Manchin holds firm, the country will be grateful and I hope he has enough love for this great Republic to see what democrats are doing and act on behalf of his constituents and fellow citizens. I tell you though, it makes me anxious to rely on any democrat but so far, he has held the line. Let’s pray he can continue to be strong. Democrats are as desperate to get this horrific bill passed into law as they ever have been with anything. Watching a baby being held outside a tenth floor window by a crazed degenerate who is threatening to drop it, feels about the same as watching democrats try and pass this bill. I hope his Republican colleagues and his constituents are lobbying hard for him to do what is right.

Very apt analogy #3, the baby being dangled out the window. In retrospect I think and feel the same.
Always enjoy your posts #3.

Biden gets dissed by both Manchin and Abrams on the same day after calling Kamala "President Harris." He should have stayed home.

I'm surprised that there hasn't been any allegations of inappropriate or unwanted sexual advances made against Manchin by some mystery liberal woman from 20 years ago. Surprised that there hasn't been an accusation of bribery made against Manchin by an anonymous source. Surprised that Manchin hasn't been accused of federal income tax evasion and having offshore accounts yet. When the going get tough, the Democrats will set out to destroy you to get their way. The character assassination will start soon if Manchin (and Sinema) does not fall into lock step soon.

Power by a simply majority is a tyranny.
The use of a simple majority states, you no longer have a majority.
Strictly partisan only one opinion allowed.
This is not freedom of, by, and for, the people.
Simple majority is dictatorship rule, exactly their goal of establishing their Global Marxist Communist One World Government.

I've always admired Manchin from way back when he was WV gov and held daily briefings on site at the WV coal mine disaster. He handled it amazingly well and people there of both sides loved him for it. Hope he holds strong to doing what he says he will do and doesn't fold to pressure and offered favors (Biden gave his wife a job awhile back and that doesn't seem to have changed his mind)

It is the right of posters to question the sincerity of Joe Manchin by anyone who has a distrust of democrats. But for those of you who still choose to fail to acknowledge his efforts that would hold approval of Donald Trump during the past few months I ask--name a handful of republicans that have stepped up to voice positions to save our country as Manchin has. I'm waiting. Lets give the guy some respect. He was a good Governor who involved republicans in solving problems, and that is why a very red state (Trump 68% of the vote) sent him to DC as their senator.

#1, also, if something were to happen to Manchin, the WV governor would name his replacement and the governor is a Republican. I think that Manchin is safe for now. He’s up for reelection in 2024.
If he were to flip now after all these months of bucking the demonrats, he would be persona no grata in his home state.

I take it those hapless stooges sitting on the stage eagerly serving as human props were not aware that Biden’s plan to federalize elections was already circling the drain. Biden knew. And so did Stacey Abrams.
