NIAID director Dr. Anthony Fauci angrily lashed out at Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) Tuesday, after the Kentucky Republican called him out for claiming to “unilaterally represent science,” and for plotting to destroy dissenting scientists. Paul has repeatedly sparred with Fauci over the funding of gain-of-function experiments at the Wuhan lab. In an impressive display of misdirection, Fauci went after Paul for “distorting” his good works, and for inciting threats against his life.(snip) “A planner who believes he is ‘the science’ leads to an arrogance that justifies in his mind using government resources to smear and to destroy the reputations of other scientists who disagree with him,” the senator said.

Don't be surprised that Fauci's days or federal government employment are numbered. It's getting too hot for Fauci and the DC Democrats are increasingly concluding he's too much us a liability. If thereafter if the Senate wants to question him he will assert he won't answer any questions as he's no longer a federal employee.

Interesting how Fauci conveniently had screenshots of Rand Paul's find raising website to show during his testimony. That is not something that one would generally bring with them as evidence when testifying about their irrational and schizophrenic response to the Covid pandemic. Fauci feels that he is untouchable and made Rand Paul's point about going after those who question him by Fauci going after Paul. Fauci was clearly prepared for this and wanted to make his point. Don't question my decisions, even when they are wrong on a regular basis. After Rand Paul and the other Senator (from Kansas) did their dressing down of Fauci, Fauci was caught on a hot mic calling a Senator a moron. I would have LOVED to see that Senator get back on his mic immediately after Fauci said that and remind him: "Dr. Fauci, may I remind you that you work for us, the US government and the citizens of the USA, and answer to us as your employers. You, Dr. Fauci, are a civil servant who can be easily replaced by any number of other highly qualified experienced physicians with actual field and lab experience who would provide much greater insights than someone who has spent their entire career as a medical bureaucrat taking advantage of the system to earn as much money as possible".
