Powell calls inflation a severe threat,
disputes White House claims of easing
supply-chain woes

Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell on Tuesday disputed President Biden’s claim that supply-chain problems have eased, telling Congress that persistent bottlenecks are responsible for record-high inflation that could prompt the central bank to raise interest rates more than planned. In a confirmation hearing for a second four-year term, Mr. Powell told the Senate Banking Committee that high inflation has become a “severe threat” to healthy employment levels. He said stalled shipping and delivery networks are still hurting the economy by contributing to the biggest price increases in consumer goods in four decades. “We’re not seeing really a lot of progress,” Mr. Powell testified.

Mr. Powell, is government spending of 7 trillion in excess of revenue hurting the economy with out of control inflation? I thought so.

Tell us something we don't already know. Supply problems are not raising inflation. Higher minimum wages the Democrats pushed ----Trillions of dollars in irresponsible spending and printing money that doesn't exist---The crazy insistence on firing people who haven't been vaccinated, and the crazy rules that come with Covid, and are destroying our economy.

Was on a Zoom call this morning where the point person for the WH Supply Chain was spoke. He sounded like a nice enough guy, and seemed to know what he was talking about (not much spin), but he also discussed things that are likely years before they can be implemented. We're still tinkering around the edges to improve the situation at the ports, but Omicron has created a huge shortage of labor at the ports. Some vessel schedules have 4-5 vessels out of the 5-6 in the rotation stuck waiting to get a berth in the San Pedro Bay port complex (LB and LA), thus, they can't return to pick up new cargo or even load empties to clear space at the terminals. Maybe they need to figure a way to modify the work rules to ensure they can have at least partial gangs to work the vessels. After all, it's an emergency situation, right? BTW, port workers have been declared front-line workers in same way as medical personnel. After all, most of the medical community can't do things until they get what comes on many of the cargo vessels.

Those EVs Joe Biden and Democrats promise will transform the climate? That EV you drive and think you’re saving the planet with? On the heels of earlier AP investigations that showed significant spending on projects that had little to do with the coronavirus, the story provides one major explanation — albeit an infuriating one — for our nearly $32 trillion-and-counting federal debt.
