Discussion surrounding Merck’s newly-authorized COVID-19 pill, molnupiravir, has mostly concerned the risk it might pose to pregnant women. But some experts worry it could also lead to the outbreak of a new variant of the virus it’s designed to treat.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted emergency use authorization to two antiviral pills to treat COVID-19 this week, one from Pfizer (paxlovid) and another from Merck (molnupiravir). The Pfizer EUA was generally lacking in controversy, but the authorization of molnupiravir was far more contentious.

Sounds like some sort of 'Gain of function' experiment. No thanks.

Yes, but getting out of bed in the morning could trigger a new variant too.

Who pays any attention to all the confllicting information that comes out daily? Live your life, take normal precautions, and don't live in eternal fear.

At some point people have to realize that fighting this virus with a whack a mole process is insane.
We have proven inexpensive therapeutics that are effect and allow the body to produce natural immunity.

More fear porn. People refuse to get vaccinated or use the meds that are being recommended. Cases continue to rise. Deaths continue to rise. The panicked clamor for 'action'. Blame is placed on the unvaccinated even though the vaccine is a failure. More crackdowns. More mail-in ballots. Rinse and repeat every other year since we have an election every 2 years.
It's almost as if it were planned.

It's fine to say " live your life...". But these morons at the FDA are embarking on a plan to mutate this virus into the next ebola. I had covid so I'm currently immune, but when these idiots release a drug that CAUSES endless mutations, you, I, and everybody else will eventually be faced with something that can't be killed. So you can ignore the problem, but I promise it won't ignore you in the end...

From what I have read and heard from reputable doctors, this drug is designed to cause a virus to mutate itself to death. It was developed for SARS Covid 1. The doctors concern is that something might go wrong and the mutations may not work that way. There are also grave concerns for young people, children and pregnant women.
The Phizer drug does not have the same concerns. I figure that they found out how to combine Ivermectin, Zinc, a steroid and an antibiotic into one pill so that they could charge a gazillion dollars for something we all could have been using for practically nothing the last 2 years.

The original reports that I read about this Merck drug was that other researchers had abandoned this path of inquiry when they discovered that the drug causes mutations. IMO, the original researchers were right. A mutagen is a dangerous thing to put into your body.
Frankly, if I was stuck and had to take one of these two drugs Pfizer's protease inhibitor, or Mercks mutation creator....it would be an easy choice. The protease inhibitor is unlikely to have bad side effects, and the mutagen is very likely to have bad side effects. And that is aside from it's enhancing the development of new variants of the virus. And yes, the great majority of those mutated viruses will be unable to function, essentially 'killing' them, but occasionally one mutated version will have some new functionality....and that sort of a 'surprise box' isn't something that I'd want to get involved in.

And there you have it. You now have choices, the shiny new pill that will create the next variant craze or the tried and true clot shot that has already been proven to kill. I'll take choice #3, Alex, for no price, no risk. Moe, Larry and Curly could manage this problem better.

Accidentally? Do they say that the flu vaccine causes the flu to "Accidentally" mutate e ery tear? No. The flu virus, like the Covid virus, is doing what viruses do. Mutate to survive. Yet Federal authorities and Covid Nazis ignore this in order to keep spreading their fear and division in order to maintain power and control.

Re #13. Terms like "mutate to survive" give way too much purposeful intelligent intent to what is essentially a defective, very low fidelity process of replication used by RNA viruses. These viruses don't intend to mutate.
The process of replicating the RNA that is the functional center of the virus is very prone to creating errors where the "copy", which is supposed to be an exact duplicate of the original, has one or more errors.
Many times, these errors destroy the function of the virus, and that defective replica just is 'dead'. Occasionally, the error has an effect which makes the virus still functional, but in a different way.
This is an entirely random error process, and survival or not is also entirely random.

#11 is right on! It will be Covid 22 for the 22 elections. Next, Covid 24. I've been call the virus the CCP virus. It more appropriately the Deep State virus.

I am so entertained right now, as Big Pharma keeps biting the hands that feed them. Sometime soon I hope, we will return the favor and bite them. It just may have to start by taking control of congress away from the Uniparty though.
