A Washington DC school teacher is on leave after she allegedly told third graders in the school library to reenact scenes from the Holocaust. The teacher at DC's Watkins Elementary School assigned specific roles to the pre-teens in an attempt to teach the horrors. The instructor, who has not been identified, was placed on leave Friday. A Jewish student was even cast in the role of Adolf Hitler in the bizarre reenactment, according to another student's parent. At the end of the re-staging, the student was told to act out the leader of the Third Reich's suicide, which saw Hitler shoot himself dead.

They made the kids act like they were shooting the Jews. And then they are SURPRISED when kids come in and shoot up the school? THEY trained them to do this.

I have no problem with this activity because it actually happened, it's true history. This is less shocking than making kids feel shame for being white or trying to convince kids that they are another sex because they walked around in mom's shoes one time to see how high heels felt. I suspect the word "ordered" was the DMUK's emphasis.

Put on leave? The creep should have been immediately fired. Oh, I forgot. The union always protects these creeps.

Third grade is too young for this type of activity. What's next, the rape of Nanking?

This is why it is so important for parents to be monitors in their children's classroom or at least have all classrooms monitored via Zoom, etc. so that the parents can see what is being taught and how it is being taught. There is so much evil being done to our children, one can no longer trust the teachers to protect them.

When I was 8-9, all us kids were excited about the Apollo moon landings and pretended to play that. In fact at that age I don’t think I had learned much about the Second World War.

In kindergarten, 1951 Germany, I learned about the bombing, I saw the aftermath, left in 1953 , third grade... Didn't get to Dachau until 1963, 11th grade. It's much more appropriate in 11th grade than third. The teacher is a monster and needs firing and ostracizing!

Today’s kids are so far removed from recent world history, I don’t think they had any idea what that activity means to our generation.

Back in 3rd grade we would be learning simple fractions, doing fun science experiments, reading books with larger type, we thought the teacher was so smart and we listened to the teacher and not dare question her. (I went to Catholic school) If Sister Helen had us role play the Holocaust, that would have been a huge influence on me. The teacher at DC's Watkins Elementary School has NO business teaching.
I have no problem teaching what happened during the Holocaust, but it needs to be done in a serious way.

The teacher could have taken the class on a local field trip to the Holocaust Museum. It would have had a longer lasting impression on the kids, and they would have learned a lot by visiting. Of course, I'm not sure any of the museums are open in D.C. because the fragile government employees might get the Chinese flu by venturing outside.

I would much prefer that schools teach the horrors of the Holocaust, even in a tone deaf and misguided manner, than teach children that all white people are racists, how to have anal sex, or that "people with penises" can be boys or girls depending on how they feel at any moment in time.

Only the foreign press is reporting this.
#2 — lots of atrocities have “really happened” throughout history. Do children really need to reenact them to understand that they are atrocities?
#10 — Kimberlynn Jurkowski is her name. Don’t be misled by the apparent ethnicity of her name. She is a DC librarian. ‘Nuff said.

I was in 3rd grade when Kennedy was shot. I didn't really understand all that was happening. But I was a bit put off because all my TV shows were being pre-empted because of it, and then the funeral etc.

I am for teaching history, all history, however, I think eight years old is a bit young for this subject matter.
