South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem has written a bill that would require public school districts to provide a daily moment of silence for 'voluntary prayer, reflection, meditation, or other quiet, respectful activity.'Noem's office released the draft legislation on Monday and plans to introduce it in the Republican-led state legislature when its annual session begins next month. The bill states that students and teachers are 'best served by a moment of silence at the start of every school day to afford them a reprieve from the frenzy of daily life and to set a tone of decorum that will be conducive to learning.'

Kristi is a fake. Ask her about her decision not to sign legislation barring transgenders in girls sports. I use to respect her, not any longer.

I was fooled by her once. I see the difference in a governor that talks the talk, and in one like Desantis that actually lives and breathes MAGA values for his state. This little thing isn't going to cut it, Kristi. I think you have probably done well for your state, but Desantis is on the front lines in the trenches, pushing back hard against the federal government. You need to step up your game.

Ditto to all the above. Allow me to add that she missed an opportunity of a lifetime, one that would have elevated her to a level of support no campaign coffers could buy. She should have gone ahead with a massive night of fireworks at Mount Rushmore, defying/ignoring Brandon's decree. Imagine if that had happened....

Absolutely, #5! She is responsible for a ruined Fourth of July at Mount Rushmore - not Biden. She had at least ten ways around what he did.

By all means let us condemn Kristi Noem for cracking the federal prohibition on school prayer. Since she, like all politicians, has disappointed some with her decisions, we must relegate her to outer darkness. Because the Republican Party is filled to the brim with honest, courageous and hard-hitting politicians we need to weed out those, like Noem, who offer conservatives less than 100%. Begone Kristi!

Thank you, #8. The prevailing wisdom here surrounding Kristi seems to be that we should withhold any support for any Republican politician until the next Reagan appears on the scene.

Joe Biden’s “Build Back Better” agenda was officially shelved after an agreement with Joe Manchin couldn’t be reached. On that note, my prediction that Manchin would stall things out into next year proved correct, and I still believe his ultimate goal is to kill it entirely in the softest way possible.

For that reason, I take particular delight in noting that Steven Spielberg's remake of WSS may have enthralled critics, but no one is rushing to see it. And no wonder, given that it's so darn woke that parts of it are in a language most Americans don't speak, but Spielberg refused to include subtitles. Let me quickly get through my biases. I hate Steven Spielberg movies because I find them overblown, predictable, and incredibly boring. I also dislike the way he presents children.

There may be a rematch coming in the 2024 race for the White House. But we're not talking (God help us) Biden-Trump II. Instead, 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton is an interesting prospect to consider when looking for a viable candidate, particularly if an 80-something President Biden decides not to seek a second term. And why would he? Just 22 percent of voters want him to seek a second term, according to a I&I-TIPP poll. It doesn't get much better when polling only Democrats, where just 36 percent want to see the president run again, with that juggernaut candidate named "someone else" coming in first with 44 percent support.
