Democratic mayors are raising eyebrows with their responses to the rising crime plaguing major cities like New York City, Chicago and Philadelphia. The U.S. murder rate rose 30% between 2019 and 2020, according to FBI data – the largest annual increase on record, with Chicago topping the list. At least 12 major cities, including New York, have already set historical murder records in 2021. Robberies and assaults are also on the rise, and retailers in major cities across the country are reporting an uptick in organized smash-and-grab crimes during the busy holiday shopping season.

Comments:

What amazes me is that we've seen this play out before. It's inevitable. Crime is going to spike and citizens are going to get fed up. Why do we have try failed policies again?

The mayors aren't the biggest issue. Soros backed DAs are the clowns that have caused the massive upsurge in violent crime all over America, through the use of no cash bail initiatives that release violent offenders before the police can even complete their paperwork in many cases. Frauds like Groot and Big Bird make things worse with their ridiculous attacks on the shop owners, but the DAs hold the power here, and they are using it to destroy the criminal justice system, as they were paid to do by the Soros Foundation.

It's the very definition insanity, OP, doing the same thing and expecting different results. The true believer Marxists like AOC are certifiably insane. Then there are those who don't really believe in the socialist utopia but cynically use the policies to gain power for themselves.

It's the new golden race of 'darkies' that can't be touched they know it so act accordingly. I'm tired of hearing daily news about Chicago crime or bid city crime when the usual leaders do everything wrong to not fix it.

#1 is on the right track. Certainly, the mayors are an important part of this violent horror show, but the unwillingness of DAs to prosecute crimes is the biggest problem. I have had a number of police officers former and active as friends and often have listened to stories about various criminals. One thing that I learned was that in many cases arresting one criminal and getting that one person off of the streets ends dozens and dozens of crimes. This is especially true of burglars and muggers who break into hundreds of homes as their 'business model', and rob dozens of people if they are an armed robber. Probably murderers are doing more than one murder, too. Failing to remove a criminal results in many more crimes by the same person. Getting even a few criminals in prison makes a huge difference in the crime rate.

Might as well add Portland and Seattle to this list of blue cities with a big crime problem. #1 is right, it isn't just City Hall that is the problem, Soros financed a whole lot of DA/AG campaigns the past couple of elections, and we are now seeing the results. Portland's DA has admitted he has buddies in the Antifa/BLM bunch and that is why he refuses to prosecute.

The National Football League's "Inspire Change" partners, which receive financial backing from the multibillion-dollar league, include multiple groups that have openly advocated for defunding the police, a Fox News Digital review of the program found. Groups who have received funds as part of "Inspire Change," the NFL's social justice initiative, include the Vera Institute of Justice, the Oregon Justice Resource Center and the Community Justice Exchange. All three of those groups support defunding or abolishing the police, a review of their public statements shows. While the NFL's general support of social justice causes is widely known,

Sharing an article on how Scottish police are “logging rapists as women,” author J.K. Rowling managed to enrage the woke mob yet again on Sunday. “Police have been criticised for saying they will record rapes by offenders with male genitalia as being committed by a woman if the attacker ‘identifies as a female,’” the Times UK report begins. “Police Scotland said that they would log rapes as being carried out by a woman if the accused person insists, even if they have not legally changed gender.” Taking a jab at the logic, the “Harry Potter” author commented: “War is Peace.

Actor Jussie Smollett was found guilty of lying to police last week after he claimed he was the victim of a hate crime in 2019 and, of all things, a Subway sandwich was a key piece of evidence in the case against him, the former Chicago police superintendent said, according to reports. Ex-Superintendent Eddie Johnson told NewsNationNow's "Morning in America" that Smollett left his home around 2 a.m. on the day he claimed to be attacked to buy the sandwich. "OK, that’s fine," Johnson said, adding that morning was one of the coldest in Chicago that year and hardly anyone was on the street.

With a massive build of Russian troops near Ukraine’s border, Russia’s Vladimir Putin is indicating a willingness to risk a military conflict, but analysts say while the threat is serious, an invasion is not certain. The threat of an invasion will be the central subject of President Biden’s video call with Putin on Tuesday. Biden is expected to warn of dire consequences should Russia follow through with a military offensive, while Putin is expected to reiterate his ultimatum that NATO should not allow Ukraine to join its military alliance. The outcome of the video call could have major implications as Putin weighs the potential costs of a full-fledged invasion of Ukraine.

Everyone’s understandably focused today on how Cheney embarrassed Trump Jr and the Fox News gang by reading their texts to Trump on January 6. Ed has a nice write-up about it here. But don’t miss the forest for the trees. The point Cheney was making isn’t that Fox News hosts are hypocrites, although they are. The point is that the president’s own family and allies were pleading with him while the riot was unfolding to do something, yet he did nothing — for hours. Everyone around him treated it like an emergency. Not him. Was that a crime? Watch the end of this clip, starting at around 3:00.

I hate Steven Spielberg movies because I find them overblown, predictable, and incredibly boring. I also dislike the way he presents children.
