Time magazine revealed a controversial pick for its “athlete of the year” award on Thursday handing the crown to U.S. gymnast Simone Biles, not because she did well, but because she pulled out of events during the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Biles had a relatively poor showing at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo winning only a silver and bronze medal in two events, compared to the handful of golds she won during the 2016 Olympics. However, Time did not laud her for winning the two lesser medals as much as it did for her decision to pull out of several

They missed Sydney McLaughlin. 2 world records and 2 Olympic Gold in 2020.

Just another day in Bizarro World. “Athlete of the Year” for not competing. Men pretending to be women setting records in women’s sports. A man dressed as a woman as the covergirl on a women’s magazine. Maybe we are in the “end times” or if not maybe we should be.

How embarrassing. And patronizing. She trained practically her whole life to be an Olympian, but she'll be remembered not for being one of the greatest gymnasts of all time, but for being a quitter.
Mental health champion . . . blah, blah, blah. She was no more mentally or emotionally compromised than Kerry Strug or any other Olympian, but she didn't have the right stuff to follow through like they did. Too bad for her. Too bad for the future Olympian hopefuls who will quit before they triumph. Because 'mental health'.

An award for being a whining, wimpy quitter.
How millenial.
How useless.
How 21st century.

So, she got the pandering of the year award, eat your hearts out! The dame pulled out because she was being outperformed by others!

I am shocked I tell you -- shocked!!!!
I thought for sure they would name all the "transgender women athletes" (also known as mentally ill men who are mediocre male athletes but can set records just by showing up competing against real women) as their athlete of the year!!!
Simone was once a great athlete, but she is just a mentally ill shell of her former self now -- so I guess it stays in the mentally ill group, so close enough!!!

If you see Time Magazine displayed on the checkout stand at the supermarket, turn it around so nobody can see the cover.

Pretty soon the medals will only go to those who came in last.
Last years medal winner has yet to cross the finish line.

Reminds me of the contest that is Harrisburg PA each year. It's '20 under 20'. So, the are looking for 20 youngsters who are a shining example in their communities.
I nominated my friend's daughter who was a Sr in HS. The girl was in to competitive Irish Dancing. She had won (in her age bracket) The North American Open, The Irish Open and The World Championship. A Trifecta! And a big deal. This girl, with all her accomplishments (academics and dance), didn't qualify because they were looking for youngsters 'with potential.' (Apparently, proven success is not as important as potential.)

I don’t have a problem with the athlete’s decision to step out of a competition for mental health reasons. But athlete of the year? Ridiculous.

To be compassionate I can’t fault her for her issues. The pressure on Olympic class athletes is immense but to vote her athlete of the year for not competing is ludicrous. This is apparently the media world we live in now where up is down and down is up.

Poster 10, an Ldot poster started me on that practice during the Obama administration. When I saw an Obama on a magazine cover, I’d flip it. If there was an Obama photo on the back cover, I’d put another magazine on top of the stack. A fun and harmless act of civil disobedience.

Surprised they didn't name Lia Thomas, Penn State swimmer for setting all kinds of NCAA Women's swimming records. Thomas is doing more to "change" sports than anyone right now. Naming Thomas would have checked off all the woke PC boxes.
