I received a phone call on my radio show from a man who said, “Dennis, I’m a gay conservative actor in Hollywood, and it is far easier to come out of the closet as gay than as a conservative.”That call was in the 1980s.While the current cancel culture—the firing, humiliation, disparagement, and smearing—of conservatives is exponentially worse today than 30 years ago, it is not new.As a result, the great majority of Americans who are conservative—that is, about half the country—hide their true beliefs. They fear saying anything that differs with the Left. This would include such reprehensible sentiments as:With all its flaws, America is the finest country ever made.

This conservative does not hid her true beliefs. I don't cosign the craziness of the left even though almost everyone around me does. I constantly think of the scripture about the blind leading the blind; it simply doesn't work, and that's common sense wisdom. I am unapologetically conservative. I'm unapologetically God's. The left has nothing to offer me; I categorically reject their religion of self.

One of my best friends down in Iowa where we lived for 12 years asked what I thought about the trial. I told him and he was shocked to hear my view! I thought ugh oh…he’s in a left wing echo chamber and doesn’t know it! Oh well…

I haven't ever completely hidden by beliefs but I have been careful at times shutting the hell up while others spouted off leftist drivel in my presence under the assumption that everybody is on board. They didn't think they were around a conservative because they didn't see any of the behavior out of me or other conservatives they had been led to believe characterized us. They really don't know we're all around them and believe that if we were, they'd know it. I really do need to keep a list of all the articles written by lefties who dared venture behind the Carhart curtain and expressed their utter amazement that they weren't roasted on a spit and in fact were treated with kindness.
I had for decades been tied to family needs that relied on my income, without taking the chance of a significant pay cut, that also eliminated my ability to get the hell out of looney land. I have been out of the big corporate world for about eight years now and it has been wonderful.

I am extremely comfortable with my conservative beliefs and I'm more than willing to share them when asked. I DO forewarn inquisitors they may not like what they're about to hear. My conservatism is pretty simple: less government or at least a minimum involvement of government in my life, faithful adherence to the Constitution, the right to self defense as presented by the 2nd Amendment. Federal involvement should only be at the level of national defense, safe control of the national airspace and interstate commerce. Everything else should be decided at the state level by the states.
I'm blessed that my family and I happen to live in a fairly-conservative state (aside from the 'progressiveness' of the two major cities in the Bluegrass (Louisville and Lexington) and what is probably the most conservative and Republican of all 120 counties in Kentucky (Oldham.) I'm also blessed with who I think is the best Congressman representing my interests (Rep. Thomas Massie, an MIT electrical engineer.)

Conservatives today are marginalized by the same people who made their careers marginalizing other humans for 200 years. When you stand up to a Leftist, you're standing up against historic Slavers, Nazis and Racists. Be proud to not be one of them.

Mr Prager gave a list of spoken conservative values. He made a mistake on one. He said:
"A person’s color is the least important thing about them."
The particular sentence is either singular or plural. Considering that the word "person" is singular, the word "them" is out of place and should be "him."
That's the way it reads in almost all languages on the planet.

People want to argue. I want to converse. Even in this salon, offer a different point or disagree with the orthodoxy by a degree or two, and you get namecalling, even calls for ostracization as a troll or such from those who have all the answers.
I've never seen anyone consider another view in the midst of an argument. I've never seen namecalling work towards change, either. Conservatives "conserve", few lead.

I just want for America, as founded, to survive this ongoing political civil war. However, when out, shucking and jiving with folks on the topic of politics, I express how I see things. It's easy. All one has to do is speak up. It's why we have mouths.
