Moderna CEO predicts drop in vaccines’
power due to omicron variant

The chief executive of Moderna, a key COVID-19 vaccine maker, predicted a “material drop” in the shots’ efficacy against the omicron variant, spooking investors in early Tuesday trading amid new fears about the trajectory of the pandemic. CEO Stephane Bancel, speaking to The Financial Times, said there is “no world” in which the vaccines are as effective against the variant newly discovered in South Africa as the delta variant that is dominant now. “I think it’s going to be a material drop. I just don’t know how much because we need to wait for the data. But all the scientists I’ve talked to … are like, ‘This is not

Comments:

"The scientists are all like, bummer!" When your CEO speaks like a high schooler. Remember, folks, it's not that the shots stop working for their stated purpose after 3 or 4 months, but that there's "a dangerous new variant" for which you need yet another shot every few months. We are this stupid.

The powers that be talk about human-caused global warming and cooling as if the planet never warmed or cooled before human beings populated the planet to the degree they do now and used petroleum products and coal. But who is questioning where COVID-19 came from? Where is the investigation into the Chinese government? Why aren't there consequences? Why is Fauci evasive over gain-of-function research funded -- apparently in part -- by the US government in China? We are not permitted to ask basic questions any more.

That is because they are not vaccines, just shots like flu shots.

Flu shots are vaccines, these mRNA shots are not. Flu shots are always a bit uncertain because there are often 4-10 different influenza viruses created in China each season. Guessing which of these 4-10 viruses will become most common in the USA six months or a year in advance is necessarily imprecise, and often the annual influenza vaccination is not designed for the virus that winds up most commonly circulating here. That potential mismatch has nothing to do with whether the 'flu shot' is a vaccine. It is.

So a treatment that doesn't prevent infection, hospitalization or death and is only "effective" for a few months before a booster is required is now going to be less effective. IIRC, six months ago, we were told we could all "go back to normal" when 70% of people got vaxxed and we reached "herd immunity." Now that's gone out the window, along with the claims the "vaccine" is safe, only two jabs were necessary, it prevented infection, as well as the subsequent claim that it prevented severe cases. With every passing day, reality is batting down every argument for the "vaccine," yet Benito Fauci continues to command an audience. I'm done with him.

I survived two shots of Moderna, but in "wait and see" mode on any booster. Seems right now that it would be better to contract the less deadly omicron variant and build up natural immunity than risk the downsides of a booster shot. It's all about REAL "science": risk/reward or cost/benefit and tests/data to verify credibility of what information is out there and what theories it supports.

If it is a weakened virus like the md from South Africa said we do not need vaccines. Wait till all the data is in. This is a leaky vaccine that is it doesn't kill the other mutants. Ineffective.

The MTA has proposed spending $100 million over the next year on weekly COVID-19 tests for thousands of transit workers who refuse to get vaccinations. That works out to about $5,000 for each transit worker not now vaccinated. Metropolitan Transportation Authority data show about 20,000 of its employees—about 30% of the workforce—have not submitted proof that they have received at least one vaccine dose. The $100 million testing budget is enough to cover about $2,000 in hazard pay for the roughly 50,000 front line MTA workers who risked their health during the worst of the pandemic. It’s also enough to buy 37 subway cars

Democrats on Capitol Hill are flummoxed by the waves of smash-and-grab retail thefts in their states, with some denying it’s happening and others saying they are not ready to make major shoplifting a felony. Rep. There are many unknowns about the omicron variant of the coronavirus, including whether it spreads faster than other strains or is more deadly. But here’s another puzzler: How to pronounce it. World Health Organization officials give Greek names to new variants of concern, like alpha and delta. Those were pretty straightforward, but omicron appears to be tripping people up. President Biden repeatedly referred to it as “omni-cron” during remarks Tuesday, a flub that Dr. Anthony Fauci of the National Institutes of Health appeared to repeat from the podium. On Wednesday, Dr. Fauci pronounced it as “ah-mi-cron,” with a short O sound at the start,
