A man wielding a knife was fatally shot by police inside a residential building in San Francisco Friday, authorities said. Officers responded to the building in the South of Market neighborhood after receiving a call about a man armed with a knife, San Francisco Police Officer Robert Rueca said in a statement. The officers made contact with the man and an officer-involved shooting occurred, Rueca said without offering any other information on what led to the fatal shooting. Chief Bill Scott and other department officials held a virtual town hall Wednesday in the death of 41-year-old Ajmal Amani.

Authorities in Colorado say a 17-year-old boy died following an exchange of gunfire with a former Greenwood Village police officer after an argument Wednesday night, a spokesperson with the Aurora Police Department said Thursday.
The shooting was reported at approximately 10:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 900 block of S. Addison Way, near the intersection of South Gun Club Road and E. Belleview Ave., according to police.
The caller who reported the shooting told dispatch two people shot each other. Once at the scene, Aurora police found two males suffering from gunshot wounds, and both were taken to the hospital, where the teen was pronounced dead.
Mother Amber Kohnke spent Thanksgiving at the bedside of her 11-year-old daughter, who remains in the hospital on a ventilator and in critical condition after 39-year-old Darrell E. Brooks Jr. reportedly rammed his SUV through the Waukesha Christmas Parade, killing six and injuring sixty-two.
Eleven-year-old Jessalyn Torres was dancing in the Waukesha parade on November 21 and was one of 16 children admitted to Children’s Hospital Wisconsin after the callous rampage, according to a press release from the hospital.
