MINNEAPOLIS, MN- According to reports, thousands of drivers are refusing to stop when police attempt to pull them over, with data showing that it happened more than 3,100 times in 2020. New research looks into what is behind the uptick in people not following the law. [Tweet] “Super speeding” is way up in Minnesota, with the Minnesota State Patrol regularly clocking speeds of more than 100 miles per hour. Fatalities are up too and there is something else that is making the roads even more risky. Col. Matt Langer said in a statement:
“People are fleeing from police at a rate we’ve never seen before.

I had assumed defund the police meant that i could drive as fast as i want. I guess it does/will. Do social workers have tire spikes? Do they mind if i drive fast if I identify as a race car driver?

No one should ever try to beat this one: a Kawasaki H2 versus a State Trooper. Remember the Road Runner? Meep meep.

What the motorcycle rider did was incredibly stupid, but he got away with it. Incidentally, the Kawasaki Ninja H2 is a 998cc supercharged bike with 310 brake horsepower at 14,000 rpm. The bike will do 248 mph (400 kph) in 26 seconds! Here it is doing that in Turkey on a long bridge. (No, it's not legal for the street.)

Solution is really pretty simple NO BAIL for anyone with fleeing charges(Demonstrated flight risk), and 100% of every traffic violation being charged/ticketed, no pleas for reductions approved...since you only go to "prison" after a felony conviction w/1yr or longer term, Perps have to stay in the local jail, zero luxuries such as hot meals, mattresses, blankets, no private property. Shared holding cells with puking drunks and constant in/out turnover of new arrestees....no "Lights out" sleep time. Word will get around quick that it is easier to pull over, face the music for whatever is outstanding as far as warrants and possession, than to languish for weeks, months, in the drunk tank waiting for a trial date.

When insurance rates skyrocket people will demand more police funding.

Demonrats weren't satisfied with kow-towing to criminals so as an added benefit, they're making criminals out of honest citizens. Way to go, you demonrat commie morons.

I live in Minnesota and this is the first time I have been told that my state is 'police-defunded'.. The headline is false! Minneapolis voted to defund the polise, not the state of Minnesota. As a child I loved to goto Minneapolis. It was a great city, breautifully scenic with it's manhy lakes, streams, waterfalls, and the Mississippi River. It used to be somewhat moderate and frequently had Republican mayors.
Don't brush the entire state with the current lunacy in Minneapolis.

If it's Minnesota there's a good chance that you are being pulled over by Somalis pretending to be cops, so it makes sense not to pull over

"Super speeding" sounds as dangerous as super spreading. Going over 100 can be ho hum in rural areas, less so in cities. Ten years ago a friend was out west of Nashville on I-840 trying out his AMG Mercedes at 2 AM on a deserted stretch of road. He had it to 150, then heard a roar beside him as a smiling Oriental looking fellow floored his ZR-1 Corvette, pulled steadily away, and disappeared at 180+. My friend backed down to 75. What was the use? Fortunately, no cops were out that night on that stretch of highway.
