Kenosha Crowd Reacts to Rittenhouse Verdict...and

Townhall Media’s Julio Rosa is on the ground in Kenosha capturing the events as they unfold after Kyle Rittenhouse was declared not guilty on all counts by a jury of his peers. Based on media reporting in the last few weeks, you might have expected the crowd outside to explode with rage and immediately begin burning down the courthouse. That’s not what happened. Not only is the crowd overwhelmingly cheering for Rittenhouse and his right to self-defense, but the majority of the cars driving by were honking their horns in support of the verdict. This reaction gives me hope for America. Perhaps Americans do understand why

Cheering for the Constitution and for the right to self defense. The street thugs are officially on notice that while the police have been forced to stand down, private citizens, at least in some places, are still permitted to defend themselves when attacked when putting out fires that the arsonists have set. Good news.

In a CRIMINAL CASE, the burden of proof is beyond a reasonable doubt, which is considerably higher than in a CIVIL CASE in which the burden is a mere preponderance of the evidence (read: 51%), so I predict the families of the deceased and injured will find some lawyer to sue Rittenhouse for everything from ag assault to felonious mopery with intent to gawk and force him to defend and spend himself into bankruptcy. It ain't over, folks. And as to you, Kyle, stay locked and loaded, Kid, some Antifa nut is sure to be coming for you.

This young man is about to become a very very wealthy individual. The libel and defamation of character lawsuits will abound. Even though biden the cheater can't be sued while in office, if I was Rittenhouse, I would file suit against him, anyway, as the first order of business. Soon biden the cheater will not be our fake president anymore and once he is a civilian again, he will be brought to justice. Then the lawsuits against the msm and there will be many of them. Wow, Kyle, where to start. And good luck. Enjoy the wealth. You deserve it.

Re #13, many states have enacted laws in the last decade or so which specifically prohibit civil actions being brought against a person for a self defense action. The suits are null and void in advance, not permitted. Getting a "not guilty" in many states is hard armor against the kind of "the process is the punishment" civil action you mentioned. I don't know if Wisconsin has that law or not. I do know that Kansas, where I live does protect lawful self defense from civil actions.

The heroes in this affair definitely include the jurors. In a constitutional republic it should not require heroism for a citizen to perform what is perhaps the most important public service most do in their lives. In the present situation, in the face of the naked evil forces working to destroy our republic it does. These men and women rose to the occasion. I am sure that if the young man on trial had actually been guilty they would have found him so. That's the way it is supposed to work. We are a long way down the slippery slope, but it is not too late if we all wake up. Twelve "regular citizens" just set an example for us. They have earned our respect. --- And our protection from the mob.
