Royal Navy submarines and special forces are in an underwater scramble against the Russians to recover a crashed £100million jet with top secret technology from the bottom of the Mediterranean.
An RAF pilot was forced to eject from his ditched F-35B Lightning as it ditched into the sea soon after taking off on 'routine exercise' from the Navy's flagship HMS Queen Elizabeth aircraft carrier.
By plunging into international waters, the crash triggered a race to find the next-generation jet from the sea bed before it could be reached by Russia. The operation, shrouded in secrecy, is understood to involve divers and miniature submarines. The aircraft was located

The Biden administration is making billions of dollars available to drugmakers to scale up domestic production of COVID-19 vaccines in the hopes of building capacity to produce an additional 1 billion shots per year to share with the world. Money for the plan has been set aside from the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan that Congress passed in March. Under the new initiative, the Department of Health and Human Services' Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority is soliciting pharmaceutical companies that have demonstrated the ability to make the more-effective mRNA vaccines to bid for government investment in scaling up their manufacturing abilities.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has “suspended” work on President Biden’s vaccine mandate after a federal appeals court hit pause on rules that would force companies with 100 more employees to require COVID-19 shots or regular testing. OSHA pointed to the stay from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit but said the court fight over the regulation, known as an emergency temporary standard, isn’t over. “The court ordered that OSHA ‘take no steps to implement or enforce’ the ETS until further court order,” the notice on its website says. “While OSHA remains confident in its authority to protect workers in emergencies, OSHA has suspended

A Virginia university has placed an assistant professor on administrative leave after the educator sparked heated backlash for saying it isn’t necessarily immoral for adults to be sexually attracted to children. Allyn Walker, who teaches sociology and criminal justice at Old Dominion University, made the controversial comment while discussing “minor-attracted persons” and pedophiles during a Nov. 8 interview with the Prostasia Foundation, a San Francisco-based child protection organization. Walker, who uses the pronouns they/them, was discussing their book, “A Long Dark Shadow: Minor-Attracted People and Their Pursuit of Dignity,” when they insisted it’s important to use that terminology instead of “pedophile” because it’s less stigmatizing.

New York is battling its worst COVID-19 outbreak since spring as the number of reported cases jumped to a fresh seven-month high. Despite a high vaccination rate, the state’s seven-day average of positive cases is up to 5,438, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. That’s the worst it’s been since April 22, when a spring surge was dying down and the vaccination drive was just getting into high gear. Worse still, the number of cases in the Empire State has risen by a third in the past week alone, suggesting the resurgent pandemic will continue to spread in coming days and weeks.(Snip)New York boasts a 68%

The nation's top infectious disease expert says he believes the definition of being 'fully vaccinated' against COVID-19 in the U.S. could change to include booster shots. Currently, any American who has received both shots of the two-dose Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccines, or one shot of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, is considered fully vaccinated. But Dr Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said this may need to change to include extra doses. 'In my opinion, boosters are ultimately going to become a part of the standard regimen and not just a bonus,' he told Axios on Tuesday.

The Biden administration is readying to buy 10 million courses of Pfizer's COVID-19 pill to try and finally get ahead of the ongoing pandemic in the United States, a report revealed on Tuesday.
Those doses would be distributed within the country rather than allocated to other countries. The White House is expected to make the announcement this week. That pill and another one by Merck and Ridgeback Biotherapeutics have been hailed as potential 'game-changers' in a pandemic that's lasted more than a year and a half by curbing hospitalizations and deaths linked to the coronavirus.

Germany is paving the way for the introduction of tighter restrictions on people who have so far chosen not to be vaccinated against Covid-19, in an effort to control its highest infection levels since the pandemic began. On Tuesday the country’s disease control agency, the Robert Koch Institute, recorded a seven-day incidence rate of 312 cases per 100,000 people, with several areas at more than 1,000. A year ago, before the vaccine was introduced, the rate stood at 139. There were 265 deaths reported on Tuesday, much fewer than the pre-vaccine peak.(Snip)Less than 70% of the population is fully vaccinated, leaving Germany considerably

Kamala Harris' niece Meena has said parents can teach 'anti-racism at home' by telling their children the U.S. was founded by white supremacists and by filling their bookshelves with the works of 1619 Project founder Nikole Hannah-Jones. In a Washington Post op/ed published Tuesday night, Harris detailed how parents can educate kids by talking to them about the 'racism' that shapes America and how the country was 'stolen from Indigenous people'. She also took the opportunity to promote her own book club, Phenomenal Books, 'which spotlights the work of underrepresented authors, particularly women of color.' 'It's time all American families start taking time at home to discuss the injustices
