ORLANDO, Fla.—Gov. Ron DeSantis delivered a blistering critique of President Joe Biden and his authoritarian policies, warning Americans they need to fight against the radical left to preserve our freedom. Speaking to roughly 800 supporters of The Heritage Foundation and its grassroots partner, Heritage Action for America, DeSantis took aim at Biden’s recently announced COVID-19 vaccine mandate. (Snip) “If the federal government can get away with this, they’re going to be able to get away with a lot more,” DeSantis, a Republican, warned in his Thursday speech. “Next year, maybe it’s something you care about, or two years from now. Comments:

There's a CDC map of the states showing Florida is the only one with a "moderate" level of community transmission, whatever that is, while all the others have "high" or "substantial" levels.

Florida and Texas have become sanctuary states for those that cherish freedom. People from all over the world are trying to get there. Many Australians, New Zealanders, and Frenchman would like to get out of their countries. Californian refugees are storming into Texas. NY refugees are storming into Florida.

It's really quite simple. If you have 102 employees El Presidente decrees that they must be vaccinated or fired, So FIRE some. If you have 99 employees they are safe. What a relief. We are governed by MORONS.

Pursuant to 2, I think the reason the Xiden regime has allowed Texas and Florida to remain relatively free is this: once enough escapees from NY and Cali flee to those 'free' states, those expats will not lose their irredeemably liberal beliefs, their new freedom notwithstanding. At a point in the future, Florida and Texas as 'Free States' will go the way of Atlantis.

Good for Governor DeSantis. Yet they still require masks in Doctors' offices, and we still see masked mugs all around Tampa, Clearwater, and Palm Beach. But then, we're all still for freedom of choice!

In 2018, after a local news crew filmed Ryan Nichols rescuing dogs abandoned by their owners after Hurricane Florence, the former Marine appeared on the “Ellen DeGeneres Show.” (Snip) Three years after his appearance on the DeGeneres show, Nichols was featured on another program, but this time, Nichols spoke from the fetid confines of a political prison in the nation’s capital. And instead of telling a heroic story of saving dogs drowning in rising flood waters, Nichols told Newsmax host Greg Kelly a harrowing tale of what he saw at the U.S. Capitol on January 6. “We showed up in good faith . . . to protest

Yale Law School is failing. For reasons that appear to be associated with her support for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination, the school seems to have a vendetta against Professor Amy Chua. Chua was banned from teaching Yale Law’s important “small group” classes after being accused of, well, something. A deep-dive investigative report by The New York Times found no evidence that Chua had actually done anything wrong. (Snip) The two students charge that the law school administration tried to blackmail them into making false accusations against her. In addition, the law school administration publicly shamed another student of color, who announced a Native American Law Students Association party

Ten years ago this coming February, George Zimmermann shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin on a rainy night in Sanford, Florida. Without intending, Zimmerman triggered a dark new phase in the history of progressive America. Beginning with the Sacco and Vanzetti case in the 1920s, the left lied to conceal the guilt of the guilty. Yes, Virginia, those two bad boys were guilty. Upton Sinclair, who “proved” their innocence in his epic novel Boston, knew they were guilty. How many federal agencies do we pay for? I bet you think, as I once did, that a quick internet search would tell. But researching for an essay a couple of years ago, I found numbers varying from 78 to 158, and websites saying the exact number was impossible to determine. Looking at the USA.gov website recently, I discovered a tab for Federal Agencies A to Z (actually there are none past W). Scrolling around the list for two days, subtracting duplicate listings, like Useless Policy, Office of and Office of Useless Policy, I counted 456

PHOENIX, AZ — A world-class COVID-19 expert has called the experimental drugs used to prevent the coronavirus “a product of bioterrorism.” Dr. Peter McCullough made the remark during an October 27 meeting in Phoenix, Arizona in which he explained the dangers of mRNA technology used to combat COVID-19. Of particular concern to McCullough is the mRNA jabs’ ability to make the human body produce spike protein. “Everything we have learned about the spike protein since release of the vaccines is bad, 100% bad,” he lamented. “This spike protein—in itself—is pathogenic,” he continued. “This spike protein—in itself—is lethal to some through mechanisms which are now CORRECTION*

In medieval days, before there were secular dramas, there were roving bands of semi-professional actors performing morality plays. The plays were often short and sometimes even farcical. Plots were designed to encourage moral choices or illustrate Biblical stories. (Snip) Today, we have criminal trials as national entertainment. They usually take days and too often devolve into farce, as did the Kenosha trial of Kyle Rittenhouse, fumbled by the prosecutors (looking so much like Laurel and Hardy) trying the 17-year-old hero for shooting two felons to death and wounding a third man during a days’ long riot, arson and looting.

No, the Democrats—aka “The Party of Science”—did not flunk high school biology. Between grade inflation and “woke” stupidity, nobody flunks much of anything in high school these days. But there is another explanation why they—and even the vaunted Dr. Anthony Fauci—act as if natural immunity is not the best immunity against COVID-19 as it is against so many other illnesses, including childhood ones. In case you did miss high school biology and have been living under an Everest-size pile of rocks, natural immunity is what you have via antibodies after an illness ends that prevents you from getting that illness again.

As they learn more about social and emotional learning (SEL) with its data-mining, parents are in an uproar. They're demanding an opt-out and deletion of all stored data. Some believe that if we can stop the leftward lurch of America, we can "turn our schools around" and use SEL as it was "initially intended." But was the initial purpose of SEL really to teach appropriate social behavior and support "mental wellness" and "management of emotions," or is there a sinister underside?

The banning of Native American (American Indian) depictions for sports teams gets a lot of press, most famously the Washington Redskins renaming themselves the Washington Football Team. There’s a side to this issue that I had not thought of, but is argued in a lawsuit just filed in Colorado. That when the government is involved in such name bans, it is discrimination against American Indians because it deprives them of the ability to have things named after them. It is, according to the argument, the worst form of cultural appropriation, more like cultural depravation. In Colorado in 2021, legislation was passed banning the use of American Indian mascots, broadly defined.

A seven-woman, five-man jury has returned a verdict in the self-defense case of Kyle Rittenhouse. The jury spent four days deliberating whether the now-18-year-old would be locked up in a cell for the rest of life or be free after the attacks on August 25, 2020. In the end, they decided that Rittenhouse was not guilty of maliciously killing two men and wounding another at the Kenosha riots in 2020. Before the jury came in, Judge Bruce Schroeder told those gathered in the courtroom not to react and said if people couldn’t control themselves they’d be escorted out. Police were also deployed around the courthouse prior to the verdict being read.
