With the traumas of COVID still freshly seared into their minds, New York City nurses are once again sounding the alarm that staffing shortages at local hospitals are jeopardizing the well-being of themselves and their patients. Nurses in the Big Apple and throughout New York State are planning a series of protests starting this week to highlight what they say is a failure on the part of hospitals to staff jobs that started to become vacant after the first pandemic wave roared through the region.(Snip)“We have a massive nursing shortage,” said Eric Smith, the statewide field director for the New York State Nurses Association. “We have a vacuum

Had they stood in solidarity with their coworkers who were about to fired for the crime of not taking the shot, then maybe they'd not now be angrier than they've been in years.

They were short staffed before Covid. That was made worse by Covid. Now politicians and hospital administrators are making it even worse with unnecessary vaccine mandates resulting in needless terminations and resignations. This problem was created on purpose with no thought to the resulting care crisis.

When they were worshiping our health care workers during the pandemic, they were over the top. Nurses and doctors were, after all, just doing jobs that they get paid for. That they get paid very well for, incidentally. But to do a total 180 like this is outrageous. Nurses and doctors are a lot closer to the hero deities they portayed 18 months ago than the pieces of debris they are treating them like now.

Agree with posters, but it’s happening to a certain extent in other regions. The solution for our local/regional medical gurus is to recruit newbies into a very basic and abbreviated nursing program and shove them into the neat grinder. I call them “shake and bake” nurses. Congrats, medical establishment. Your greed and kowtowing to Xiden and Fauci will destroy your profession and leave your patients out in the cold.

This is a universal problem Nurses around the country were over worked during Covid. Like any employee that is overworked in a very high stress environment, nurses quit. Them moved on to other positions outside the hospital. Same happened to Docs, Respiratory therapist and many other healthcare providers. Eventually, they anyone one can get everything at anytime with goobernment price controls will cause such massive shortages that only the elites (i.e Democrats) will be able to get healthcare.
