Today we celebrate Veterans Day, a holiday that honors all American veterans, living or dead, who served their country honorably during war or peacetime.
On the “11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month” in 1918, the Allied nations and Germany agreed to an armistice, ending World War I, which is generally regarded as “the war to end all wars.” It became known as “Armistice Day,” and is commemorated by many countries.
One year later, in Nov. 1919, President Woodrow Wilson declared Nov. 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day. On June 4, 1926, Congress passed a resolution

Leadership may change across a wide spectrum from the great to the incompetent, from General George Patton to General Mark Milly but the American fighting man will always get the job done. Salute to all my brothers and sisters in uniform.

In World War II, my dad was in the Army's 84th Infantry, 335th Regiment, Company K. The Railsplitters. He rarely spoke of his military service in Europe. But, I do know he saw the worst of the worst on the perimeter of the Bulge. The few times he spoke of the war, he always acknowledged our military's leadership and the troops from all branches of service and their drive to win at any cost as the only reason we all aren't speaking German today. My God continue to rest his soul.
I gratefully thank all men and women in uniform today for their service. It's still dark here, but, at sunup, the flag will be placed out front.

In WWII my dad served in the Pacific (Upper Solomons an Luzon) He returned home as a corporal and had two bronze stars. He later had a drinking problem which broke up our family. My lovely wife’s dad went to Europe and was captured by the Germans at the battle of the bulge. He spent the remainder of the war in a POW camp referred to as Bad Orb. He also had a drinking problem but, was able raise six kids and kept his family together. I think of both of them often.
I so much appreciate the sacrifice made by veterans and active military in all branches of the military as they put there lives in danger no matter what position they serve. God Bless our military and keep them safe.

My father was 82nd Airborne, I was 24th I.D. The finest people I've ever known have been veterans. I have a son and daughter in high school. West Point just mailed my girl a flyer inviting her to consider going there and touting the benefits (yeah, she rocks). She was impressed, especially that "free" part. But I find myself discouraging them from going into the military. Imagine taking an oath to protect and defend something greater than yourself, only to be bait-and-switched into serving Socialists as a pawn in support of his anti-American agenda. I fear Ayn Rand was right and the best we can do is... nothing.

Saying thanks is just not enough to those who served us and our country by putting on any kind of a military uniform. You all had the guts to go & do --- and not cut & run. That says something.
“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” John 15: 13(NKJ)
Many sins will be forgiven you who served the greatest country ever ---- in any capacity! God bless you all.

I am surprised Biden did not choose today as the day to purge the military of the unvaccinated. Biden is nasty and ruins every celebration he possibly can.

Today I celebrate my darling husband's 5 year service to his country...he did WWII and then Korea in the Navy in the Pacific theater...he passed 9 years ago and never told me till his ending that he had helped break the Japanese code and was radio man for Admiral Nimitz....back then men didn't brag about what they had done...they did their duty to God and country...

I rise in honor of the 13th Armored Division who served in the Battle of the Bulge, in the E.T.O., and building pontoon bridges to replace the steel bridges the enemy was destroying. May God give eternal rest to the brave men who have gone from us; and may God grant peace and comfort to those who remain. God Bless America.

My inspiration to serve were from my two uncles in WWII (my mother's brothers) one served in the Pacific the other at Omaha beach with the Rangers. I was drafted at 19 in 1968 for service in Vietnam. My thanks to my comrades in the 4th Infantry division at Pleku. Times at home were more challenging than was the war. My wife is Navy from the same times we are both the same age. The only battles now are the Army vs Navy games once a year. I can't say thanks enough to all veterans who served from all generations. Fighting for a country you love, some people will never know what it means, along with the American flag flying in our yards on this veterans day. God Bless America.

With this country at a point of internal conflict from a variety of dire circumstances heretofore thought unlikely, this Veterans’ Day it seems appropriate to share a portion of a prayer from our church’s “My Prayer Book” that brings clarity and purpose to American people of faith. While we treasure our spiritual freedom through the grace of our Lord Jesus, let us remember:
“... Teach me to be thankful for my liberties in this blessed land, which were won and preserved for me by the sacrifices of my countrymen. Help me to honor their memory by a conscientious and loyal citizenship and a readiness to defend the rights of free people everywhere. ... KEEP ME FROM FORGETTING THE HEROES OF THE PAST, LEST I BECOME A COWARD IN THE FACE OF THE FUTURE. ...”
God bless America’s veterans! May Americans of faith treasure the Gospel and march beneath the banner of the Cross. May God have mercy on America.
