A federal jury has indicted Steve Bannon, the one-time White House adviser to former President Trump, after he failed to comply with a subpoena from the committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.
Bannon faces two charges of contempt of Congress after he failed to appear for an Oct. 14 deposition before the panel.
“Since my first day in office, I have promised Justice Department employees that together we would show the American people by word and deed that the department adheres to the rule of law, follows the facts and the law and pursues equal justice under the law,” Attorney General Merrick Garland

Over the last six months or so, it has become more and more common to read stories about school boards that have essentially gone to war with the parents of the children in the school system they oversee.
Ground zero of the war zone was Loudoun County, Virginia. Loudoun County is one of those Virginia counties that used to be reliably Republican but now has been overrun by leftist scum working for federal contractors and the federal government and has turned hard left. I hope Ron DeSantis and Greg Abbott keep this in mind when trying to entice Silicon Valley and Wall Street companies to relocate to their states.

Newly released internal emails reveal that the National School Boards Association coordinated with the White House and the Department of Justice before sending President Biden the notorious letter that compared concerned parents to domestic terrorists. Emails provided to Fox News show that NSBA had coordinated with the White House for weeks beforehand.
Viola Garcia, the NSBA president whom the Department of Education later named to a federal board, sent a memo to NSBA members on Oct. 11 (but dated Oct. 12), providing a timeline of the NSBA's interaction with the White House ahead of the letter to Biden, which the NSBA sent on Sept. 29.

As RedState reported, Project Veritas has found itself in the crosshairs of the FBI recently. That began with a raid on the homes of several of its journalists under the guise of looking for Ashley Biden’s diary. Apparently, a stolen diary is now in the purview of federal authorities. Will they be investigating bike thefts next?
But what was so disturbing, besides the raids happening in the first place, was how quickly The New York Times knew about them. While O’Keefe was asked by the FBI to keep quiet, the Times knew within hours, pointing to a leaker within the bureau.
But while the Department of Justice requested us to not disclose

The deadline for federal employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 is November 22. Federal employees who are not vaccinated, or obtain an exemption, by that date are subject to termination. It’s hard to imagine a worse time to lose a substantial amount of border patrol agents than during the Biden Border Crisis.
Former chief operating officer of CBP from 2019 to 2021, Mark Morgan, obtained a document from a source inside CBP. The leaked document shows nearly half of CBP agents have not registered their COVID vaccination status and 10% of those who have registered have not received a shot. The federal mandate issued by Biden may result in the loss

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, say President Joe Biden’s reported plans to give $450,000 payouts to each border crosser subjected to former President Trump’s “Zero Tolerance” policy are “offensive to the American people.”
Biden’s Department of Justice (DOJ), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and Health and Human Services (HHS) are working to settle with a number of border crossers represented by the ACLU, who claim they have suffered trauma as a result of the Zero Tolerance policy.
As part of the settlement, attorneys with the DOJ, DHS, and HHS are considering a plan that would give

It’s been quite a spectacle watching people who credit Democrats with every job created and every percentage point gained in economic growth suddenly arguing that the White House is completely powerless in the face of our current economic predicament.
Presidents generally get far too much credit and/or blame for our fortunes, but they can certainly exacerbate existing problems. And our political class has certainly aggravated them with unbridled spending and support for policies that disincentivize work and inhibit energy production.
Wholesale prices rose 8.6% from a year ago in October, another record annual gain and the biggest spike in more than a decade. Inflation hit 6.2%, the highest

A whistleblower has leaked an email exchange dating to October 2020, in which the Chief of Staff to Minnesota Governor Tim Walz tells the state’s Department of Health that the Department’s numbers on how covid was spreading were “less useful than what I expected” because “these numbers are small.” The Commissioner of Health said, in turn, that “people look at the primary case numbers and think those are small impacts that don’t justify the dial backs we propose.” She urges her staff to engage in “creative thinking.”

Matthew McConaughey is speaking out on mandating vaccines for his children.
The issue has become a hot-button topic since a vaccination against coronavirus was made widely available early this year for adults.
In recent weeks, developers have been working toward making the vaccine available to children, prompting questions about whether such a vaccine should be mandated for kids.
Speaking at The New York Times' DealBook summit, the 52-year-old actor expressed hesitancy to require his children to get the vaccine. "I couldn't mandate having to vaccinate the younger kids," he said. "I still want to find out more information.

Kyle Rittenhouse is the star witness in the Kyle Rittenhouse trial. And today the 18-year-old took the stand, testifying that he acted in self-defense when he shot three men, ultimately killing two, during unrest in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on August 25, 2020.
The testimony was arguably the climax in the proceedings against Rittenhouse, who is facing multiple homicide charges and has become symbolic of just about everything the viewer wants to see. To many on the left, he's a vigilante upholding racist structures; to some on the right, a protector who filled a void left by law enforcement.
But there was another courtroom fixture centerstage on Monday: Assistant District Attorney Thomas Binger, who

President Joe Biden marveled at the high cost of gas on Wednesday, without offering any solutions for lowering prices.
“Did you ever think you’d be paying this much for a gallon of gas?” Biden said. “In some parts of California, they’re paying $4.50 a gallon.”
The president spoke about gas prices during an event at the Port of Baltimore to celebrate the passage of his $1.3 trillion infrastructure bill.
“People are feeling it. They’re feeling it,” Biden said, speaking at length about supply chain disruptions and the higher cost of goods.
Biden defended the higher cost of goods, arguing that thanks to trillions of dollars of government spending

We won’t know the final answer to this until the jury comes back, of course, but perhaps Kyle Rittenhouse’s decision to testify isn’t as “insane” as it first looked. With prosecutors seemingly doing their level best to establish all of the elements of self-defense for Rittenhouse, putting the 18-year-old defendant on the stand and subject him to cross-examination appeared to be a pointless risk.
Not so, writes our friend Andrew McCarthy at National Review. While the testimony took place today, McCarthy reminded readers that a refusal to testify would also have been a risk. And given how badly prosecutors had performed already, the gamble here was calculated
