The Producer Price Index (PPI), which measures inflation at the wholesale level, rose 8.6% year-over-year as of October, growing at a record rate for a second straight month, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) announced Thursday. BLS reported Thursday that the PPI, which measures inflation before it hits consumers, grew 0.6% in October, in line with Dow Jones estimates, highlighting that inflationary pressure is still strong. Over 60% of the month-over-month increase in producer prices resulted from a 1.2% spike in the price of goods rather than services, BLS reported.

Democrats need a positive moral vision that would start by rejecting the idea that we are locked into incessant conflict along class, cultural, racial and ideological lines. A retired Oakland Police Captain was shot and wounded during a robbery attempt at a gas station Thursday, the Oaklandside reported.
Ersie Joyner, an officer who retired in 2019 after 28 years of service, was pumping gas when three people in hooded sweatshirts and face masks tried to rob him. Surveillance video shows the three individuals grab Joyner and try to take his belongings. Joyner drew a gun, killed one of the suspects and may have wounded another before the three individuals fled the scene, the Oaklandside reported.

Procter and Gamble (P&G) announced in July that it would charge more for consumer staples like diapers and toilet paper.
