I’ve never heard of rapper Travis Scott before today but he was the headlining act at a large outdoor concert in Houston yesterday called Astroworld. At some point after his show started, people in the crowd began pushing forward toward the stage, crushing those at the front until many of them passed out. Rolling Stone reports that people in the crowd desperately tried to get security to stop the show but no one would listen. This clip shows people climbing up on a platform where a cameraman was shooting the concert. They are trying to get him to tell someone to stop the show. In any professional multi-camera shoot

One of the multiple reasons not to put yourself in these situations. Life is all about choices. Attending this stuff is a bad choice. If you didn't know that before, you should now. No excuses next time.

Attending a RAP concert is oddly stupid to begin with. RAP is NOT music! It's vile disgusting message is words with a marching band beat (a very simple beat by the way). Going to one of these with 10's of thousands of like minded RAP fans is asking for a new Unhealthcare experience!

Shall we say "thankfully it wasn't a country music concert hence a number of lives were spared"?
Was mandatory listening to "Rap" a provision of the infrastructure bill?

This rapper has a history of inciting these disasters. But until this venue, the venues have always been smaller. What kind of monster incites this, then stands back and watches the horror show? I always knew the Kardashian women were trash, but what kind of woman dates a monster like this? I hope this guy gets prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

I've been to many bluegrass concerts, country music concerts, soul music concerts, rock and roll concerts, heavy metal band concerts, even music festivals with over 100,000 fans in attendance. Never saw anything like this.
I didn't have to guess what type of "music" was being played at this show. "Music" that extols violence, hate (especially for the police and white people), racist ideology, misogyny, profanity, and violence -- like rap "music" does -- are natural breeding grounds for this type of ultra-violence and destruction. Sad for the innocent victims, but, even sadder, not shocking at all!!!

With my tinfoil hat firmly in place: I've read reports of several hundred storming the VIP gate some time before the surge happened. Were these hundreds Antifa/FBI agitators that later started the surge? Also, there are many reports people were stabbed with hypodermic needles before and during the crush to the stage.
A Las Vegas redux?

The stampede starts from the back of the crowd and like a wave moves forward. Those in the front don't even know it's coming until it's too late. As the wave starts and moves forward, the people get caught up in it and the rush continues.

I work event security in TN. From what I saw the event security was useless in this scenario. When the gates fall apart, everything falls apart. We are trained to look for guns, knives, and other sharp objects like sticks, but we are not trained for mob mentality. We have armed guard back up and Metro Police at every gate, usually one of each, but that would not be enough to stop mayhem like this. If it's an NFL stadium then there are 2 snipers present. One on top of each Jumbrotron/scoreboard. Did you know that?
In the video, I saw one security guy trying to tackle the gate stormers. Useless. I have worked at all-black line-ups before. I would not ever do it again. The black MC of one concert got political right from the moment he got on stage yelling "F Trump!" Black attended concerts are VERY different from concerts such as The Stones, etc. The women come dressed like Ho's (so do white girls, at concerts, by the way, even with their Mama's in tow.) And there is a sexual electricity that oozes in the musical content and in the audience. The "F Trump" MC would roam the audience with his mike and talk to the audience and say to women "You got nice titties..." and the audience would suck it up. Women were twerking in the aisles and on the steps. I don't mean to sound this way but it looked like the f'n mating season in the rain forest with all those scantily clad booties up in the air. Folks, it's a different world.

Reading the accounts of people who were caught in that mess is horrifying. I was at a concert a few years ago that was inside a warehouse-type building. All the walls were painted black. Everybody had to stand. We started out in one place and got pushed back by the crowd. I have claustrophobia and spent most of the concert terrified. I never would have gone except our friends bought the tickets. It was a tame concert, but the idea that we were trapped in the black hole gives me nightmares. I really feel for the victims. What a horrible way to die. Hell, indeed.

I would sound cynical if I said that's about the number of deaths in Chicago on a Saturday night? Who goes to these awful things?
