As Joe Biden hopped from Manhattan high-rises to Silicon Valley mansions to gather campaign checks in 2019, he developed a certain way of thanking the well-heeled donors who invested in his presidential campaign. (Snip) Now, nearly 10 months into his presidency, some of Biden’s most loyal contributors and top fundraisers are feeling neglected, if not outright cast aside, according to more than 30 interviews with Democratic donors, fundraisers and the operatives who work with them. With the loss of the Virginia governorship this week making plain the darkening political climate for Democrats, the White House has accumulated precious little goodwill

Winsome Sears — the first woman and first woman of color elected lieutenant governor of Virginia on Tuesday night — called out Joy Reid after watching the MSNBC host describe the GOP as “dangerous.” (Tweet) “I wish Joy Reid would invite me on her show — let’s see if she’s woman enough to do that — I’d go in a heartbeat and we’d have a real discussion without Joy speaking about me behind my back, if you will,” Sears said during her appearance on Fox’s “The Story with Martha MacCallum” Wednesday afternoon. “[Reid] talks about white supremacy,” Sears continued. “Does

The man who is poised to topple one of New Jersey’s most feared political kingpins has never held public office, he has been a commercial truck driver for 25 years and he claims to have spent a whopping $153 during the primary portion of his campaign. His name is Edward Durr, and he may be on the verge of one of the most unthinkable upsets in New Jersey political history. With 98% of the vote counted, Durr, the Republican Senate candidate in the South Jersey-based 3rd legislative district, leads New Jersey Senate President Stephen Sweeney by roughly 2,000 votes

Nothing motivates conservatives Democrats like an excuse for inaction, and Virginia’s sucker punch of a gubernatorial election Tuesday night offered a golden opportunity for them to pump the legislative brakes. Let’s own the bad news: after an increasingly vitriolic campaign centered around the bogeyman of “Critical Race Theory,” Republican Glenn Youngkin beat Democrat and former Governor Terry McAuliffe to end what has been a successful and effective streak of Democratic victories in the Old Dominion dating back nearly a decade. In the race to place blame, the centrists zeroed in on their left flank. To a progressive, it feels like

Douglas County, Colo. – A slate of political novices in Douglas County, Colorado, declared victory Tuesday night in a school board race that made national headlines. Christy Williams, one of four "Kids First" candidates, read off initial results to raucous applause at a supporter appreciation party in Parker, Colorado, in the moments after polls closed. "I am humbled to my core," Williams told Fox News. "I think there's a lot to look at, but ultimately I hope to give parents the ultimate authority over their children." Williams was joined by Mike Peterson, Becky Myers and Kaylee Winegar. Together, they hold a

No one paid much attention to the New Jersey governor’s race because it’s now a deep-blue state (President Biden won it by 16 points), incumbent Phil Murphy isn’t particularly disliked and Republican challenger Jack Ciattarelli is an unknown former Assemblyman. Murphy was expected to win by double digits, or high single digits. A bookmaker rated Murphy a 1/10 favorite in mid-October. So it’s a surprise that 10 o’clock came and the race was still too close to be called. With 40 percent of the vote counted in the famously well-managed state, Ciattarelli has a lead of about 5,o00 votes. A

The backlog of cargo containers making their way from the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach saw widespread burglaries as they were carried on trains through an area of tracks lined by homeless encampments. Thousands of boxes were seen laying near the train tracks "as far as the eye could see" in Los Angeles’ Lincoln Park, NBC4 reported. A FedEx container and several others had their doors wide open and boxes tipping over. The area is lined by homeless encampments on either side of the tracks. The outlet also spotted two men jumping off of a moving train and

Following a Monday press conference, where Sen. Joe Manchin said he needed "more clarity" on the Biden administration's Build Back Better framework, Rep. Cori Bush called him out in a statement for being one of two key Democratic holdouts on the bill. "Joe Manchin's opposition to the Build Back Better Act is anti-Black, anti-child, anti-woman, and anti-immigrant," the representative from Missouri said in her statement. "Joe Manchin does not get to dictate the future of our country." The Build Back Better reconciliation bill focuses on, in part, climate change solutions along with child care and medical care. Democrats are trying

A Washington, D.C., Popeyes has been shut down after a video captured many rats running around in the kitchen and climbing up its walls. DC Health’s Division of Food Thursday posted a “food establishment closure notice” on the front door of the restaurant, in the popular Eastern Market, in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Washington, D.C. (Snip) Two weeks ago, a disturbing video posted on TikTok showed the rodents running around the kitchen of the popular fast-food restaurant. As soon as the Tik Tok poster turns on the lights, at least seven rats can be seen running up the wall

With the Virginia gubernatorial race just a day away, prominent Virginian political commentator Larry Sabato’s Crystal Ball is changing its rating for the contest from ‘Leans Democratic’ to ‘Leans Republican.’ “Our sense is that the race has been moving toward [Republican nominee Glenn] Youngkin, in large part because of the political environment. [Democratic nominee Terry] McAuliffe’s Trump-centric campaign also just doesn’t seem as potent in a non-federal race with the former president no longer in the White House,” write Kyle Kondik and J. Miles Coleman at the site. The rating change comes amidst a flurry of good polling news for

A lot of people are asking whether President Joe Biden dozed off during the climate change conference he’s attending in Scotland after a Washington Post reporter released a video that appears to indicate as much. (Snip) The video shows Biden repeatedly closing his eyes, though he has them open when an aide came up to him, and he clapped when the speech concluded. Whatever was happening in the clip, Biden went on to give a speech later where he urged world leaders to take action on climate change. Nonetheless, the video’s there and people still derisively call the president “Sleepy

A 24-hour San Francisco grocery store will now be closing early due to excessive thefts at night, joining other retailers that have been forced to alter their hours due to rampant stealing. The Safeway grocery in the Castro neighborhood of San Francisco has moved from operating 24 hours a day to closing from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., KPIX reported. (Snip) This decision by the Castro Safeway comes less than a month after pharmacy retail giant Walgreens announced it would be closing some locations in San Francisco due to organized retail theft.
