The Biden administration presented sweeping regulations targeting the oil and gas industry Tuesday in an effort to cut back on the emission of methane, a greenhouse gas more harmful than carbon dioxide in the short term.
The proposals, announced at the United Nations climate summit in Glasgow, Scotland, known as COP26, mark the first time the federal government has offered a comprehensive rules package to limit the release of methane.
Speaking in Scotland, Mr. Biden said the initiatives are critical to meet world leaders’ goal of keeping global warming below 1.5 degrees Celsius.(Snip)Christopher Guith, senior vice president at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Global Energy Institute, hailed the proposed
This should do wonders to lower fuel prices.
How about a proposal to limit Xiden's emissions of methane?

There was a story here last week that stated nearly half(maybe more than half) of USA's methane was from rotting excess/leftover/thrown away food products...mainly in larger cities.
Methane bubbles up from pond bottoms, ditches, lakes, the oceans... "naturally"... everywhere, in amounts that dwarf any man caused/released amounts.
He wants to stop the burning/flaring of it...which reduces it to c02 and h20... in a sentence immediately following him stating how much WORSE it is for the atmosphere than c02.

Nuther thing...Don't'cha think that "Maybe" he should have "Talked this over" with the American People FIRST, before just announcing it to the World?
He seems to think "Chief Administrator= Dictator"
There are already SC cases waiting to be heard over similar "over reach regulations" applied to the Coal/Gas Powerplant industries.

In my personal life, the methane in our house is a fossil fuel blamed on the dog. Regulate your own "emissions", BiteMe.

To add to Birddog's mention of the insanity of methane control, globull warming fanatics want to do away with cattle and other livestock that eat grass so the grass can die and release even more methane.
As far as CO2 is concerned, I would really like to see these idiots do without any of the benefits we get from CO2 for even just a few days. No food may change a mind or too.

No doubt that they will cause prices to increase - which is their intent.
Methane is just the scientific name for the main constituent of natural gas. It also contains small amounts of butane and propane....which are stripped out and sold separately. And they actually dilute the NG with non-flammable carbon dioxide, too.
Kinda like putting sawdust in bread flour.
There was a federal law passed which mandated that the MINIMUM energy content of natural gas in the interstate pipelines was 1,000 BTU/cu ft. So....smart guys who had really good gas with 1100 or more BTUs....dilute it with cheap, inflammable, worthless-tor-energy CO2 to get DOWN to the "mandated minimum". Cheating pukes are not going to give you one extra BTU beyond what is required by law.

Talk to me after you stop flying 800 people and 85 vehicles halfway around the world for a conference that could have been done via Zoom. Miserable hypocrite. Let’s go, Brandon.

Methane is released in the process of decomposition. Everything that dies, animal or vegetable, is a potential methane generator. As usual, the democommies are focusing on their uber villains the oil and gas producers as they have no way to cancel nature. There are a myriad of other sources of atmospheric methane as well from landfills to wastewater treatment plants to termites to ruminant flatulence. Good luck getting rid of them all.

as Proud Texan mentioned...Europe just recently faced a "World without" C02, they had to shut down brewery, soda bottlers, food production and FERTILIZER production plants because there was not enough C02 available. The Nat Gas they needed to use to obtain it was being diverted to lights/heat instead when their wind solar grid fell short.
