School’s been in session for just over two months, and already, Montgomery County, Maryland, teachers say they are exhausted. Jennifer Martin, president of the Montgomery County Education Association which represents teachers and substitutes, said that under “normal” circumstances, a teacher’s day is packed.(Snip)But this year has been especially stressful, with teachers and even administrators being called upon to cover classes. The problem is the hundreds of vacancies across the school system.(Snip)“We’re really concerned that this will be a time of the ‘Great Resignation.’ A lot of folks are saying to me, ‘I’m looking to see, you know, can I retire yet?'” Martin said.

American Airlines has canceled more than 1,000 flights since Friday, disruptions it blamed on staffing problems and high winds at its busiest hub. Made worse by vacancies, or by vaccines? Ms. Martin goes on to whine about the kids not being vaccinated. When that's mandated and parents remove their kids in droves, that should ameliorate the staffing issue.
